How exactly is that different to when the garage crashes your car when driving it around? That is on their insurance, not on yours.

At the very least you should have been put back to the same situation/compensated correctly. Did you not speak to a lawyer or the ombudsman?

If your car is at a garage for them to work on it they are a Bailee for Reward so have a duty of care that effectively means they have to prove they weren't negligent - which is tricky at best in my insurance claim experience!

Maybe the legal team under-performed?

It's still painful for the owner though.
