negotiation margins for a new z4

Hi, I am new to forum and thinking to buy a new z4 is also an option as well as second hand one, how much discount should I be looking for when buying a new z4 around £35K? any ideas?

Minimum 8%. Good time to buy brand new now when BMW still offer complimentary specification upgrade.

hey thanks for the reply, do you have an idea about what would be the upper limit for the discount ? I am not in a hurry so I want to buy it as cheap as possible but I don't know their profit margins and don't want to offer something stupid.

Depend on dealers. I ordered my car at the end of April and got more than 8%. Market condition may have changed since.

But 10% discount will be good enough to do a deal (free upgrade options are completely free, remember).

Also worth considering the "full price" you pay including any part-ex and finance. I recently purchased an AUC Z4 and the part exchange valuations on my old Z4 varied by over £3k between different BMW dealers, with a bit of haggling the dealer also found me a lower APR finance rate (better than both BMW finance and my bank) and a free 5yr service inclusive package as a clincher.

Also consider snaffling half of their bonus from BMW finance if you take it out. Also/or ask them to throw in GAP +Smart Repair (worth nearly £700)

There are some BMW offers with dealer deposit contributions available which go alongside the complimentary upgrades. There is a lot of 'smoke and mirrors' with this though. A 10% discount is probably not that easy to come by, unless the dealer group is big (Sytner etc) and it is the right time in the trading cycle (near the end of the quarter) to force their hand. My local dealer is just a singleton family run business, they could only offer 6% off list, presumably becuase they do not get the volume of business to qualify for the volume bonuses from BMW UK.

If you are in the police force/military you can get exceptionally good deals - discount and v cheap finance rates.
