i turns out it is a tyre problem.....thers a step/lip or wear on the inside of the back two tyres....as though the wheels are tillting inwards (Very slightley hardley noticable) from the top like this /\

as i have 19z on my sz ive been told to expect alot of road noise....and the reason my tyres are so fucked is that there CHEAP NO NAME tyres....and that if i put on sumthing decent like bridgestone or GY F1z noise problem will be sorted....

what tyres do u guys reccomend? im straped for cash (a is every1 at he mo) so wana know the cheapest place to get a branded tyre??

and u think by putting the new tyres on and gettin 4 wheel allignment the noise and tilting wheels will be solved???

thanks for the reply.....i can get goodyear eagle f1 symetric for £148 all in an fitted per tyre... shud i jus go wiv that? n i was only goin to get the back two replaced...the front are ok..no lip/step....

Yeah through event-tyres they came to the house. Excellent service and really looked after the alloys

think ill get mine done soon, probably after my next track day at oulton park in november. wonder if i can get a few quid off if i keep my rear tyres as they will still have some life in them, fronts are a bit low and will probably be boarder line legal after oulton :thumbsup:
 
maybe, but more than likely ill go with track action on the 13th, did their mallory park day and was great for a first time.
 
if you take it easy you wont break it, i was doing short stints due to my brake pads. about 5 hots laps plus 1 out and 1 in lap then 30 mins for the car to cool seemed about right. just make sure its checked over before you go, fluids, tyre condition and so on and you'll be fine. i was surprised how the z4 ate up the track, even on run flats! mines on lower springs, it didnt let go in a corner even when i was pushing as hard as i dared, only had a moment when i turned the traction control off - floored it in 2nd coming out of a hair pin and lost the back end.

the nagging thought in my head is doing them will cost a lot in tyres/brakes/more regular servicing. i had planned on buying another car but pulled out at the last moment as couldnt fund it (insurance and tax on top of the z4 was adding up to be a bit too much) and the driveway is a bit full already!
 
i dont mind the obvious wear items, i think about wheel bearings, clutch and transmission as the more worrying ones. im not too harsh on gear changes, i know the cdv doesnt help the clutch, but i think mine doesnt have the best of bites at the moment too so money is in the car pot for that to be done in the next year. cdv will be coming off at that point too.

still once you go on a track its a blast :driving:

not off the top of my head, but best thing is to read them off the side of your tyres.

front is something like 225 35 18 rear 255 30 18 for me i think, but thats a guess.
 
That staggered setup is part of the sport suspension I believe. I don't know if those size tires would fit on stock (non staggered) rims.
