Need to change the DD

And wondering if I'm mad to go for it and buy a second hand E63 AMG estate?

Less than 10k per annum, 3 kids and a dog, seem to be reasonably priced for 5/6 year old car with average mileage.

Anyone got any experience of running one of these day to day?

Don't imagine 10k in a 63AMG will be frugal but hey think of the grin :D & noise like no other :driving:
6 months into a return to the 3 pointed star with our 2010 C Class sport & i like the quiet comfortable drive of the Merc by comparison to prev E60 & 2 E90s , negatives are they appear flimsy on bodyparts like bumpers/wings & have odd electrical glitches :(
Try one out & you should know if yes or no

Yeah, but you only live one, and as you say, think of the grin

In all seriousness, I've had a lifetime of boring DDs - turned the big 4-0 recently and started thinking life is there to be enjoyed, so why not go big on something fun. Thought about an M5 as well, but heard mixed things on the fragility of the engine (and obviously have a BMW already  ), and an RS4/6 is apparently soulless. Need to get out and drive them though as you suggest, which will be fun in itself!!

Doooooo it. It's a YOLO bucket list car + engine. If it wont break the bank (irrecoverably), then why not. Another one in that category i was impressed by is the Jag XFR/XFR-S - similar money to M5 for similar toys, but a bit more... British.

Do it , no good lying on your death bed remembering the day you drove to your local tip in a Nissan estate
