Hi guys I’m hoping this group can help a fellow z4 guy out. I have a 2007 z4 3.0si E86 coupe 6spd love it!! I’ve been having idling issues and performance problems as well. I replaced the MAF sensor it helped a lot but I found out that my car is missing the oil separator and the power distribution box that’s attached to the intake manifold. I’m trying to piece it together since the oil is effecting my differential air sensor with causes my car to studder and hesitate on corners and randomly. I. Have images of the oil separator but I don’t know what wire feeds into the distribution box . I know the wire from the vent hoses and oil separator plug into the box that’s 3 but what’s the 4th wire

I also could use pics of were the hoses plug into. I’ve looked on schematics trying to figure out where everything goes but In The end I just a few good pics to steer me in the right direction. So if there’s anybody out there that could help me out by taking a few pics showing me the power distribution box and the wires that plug into it and where IT plugs into would be great along with we’re the hoses plug into. There’s a breather line as well not sure where that starts and ends either. The engine runs great but it ends up coating the intake manifold with oil

AFAIK the oil separator is built into the cam cover after about 2006.
Ok so I did some more digging and I found out that my engine doesn’t have the external oil separator. The pcv valve and ccv are built into the top part of the engine go figure. So, I’m thinking my pcv valve is going bad since I’m getting all that oil in my intake manifold. Plus when I removed the vent hose I could see that the oil was coming from the crankcase end. Looks like I have a little project to do. Thanks for everyone’s help. I hope this might help someone who is also having issues and needs a little help
The n52 engines with a metal cam cover have the separate ccv, the later “k” engines have a plastic cam cover with integrated ccv.
There was a company that supplied a replacement membrane for this to enable repair, otherwise it’s an expensive replacement cam cover that’s needed.

Because of this thread, I searched for and watched an instructional video for an aftermarket CCV (PCV) replacement to the valve built into the plastic valve cover.
I think that the aftermarket valve might work - But I would not personally install one. I have three concerns: 1) When the CCV / PCV valve gives up, the rest of the plastic VC plastic has seen the same years and temps - if it cracks it will still need replacement, 2) The person demonstrating how to cut the old valve off had some struggles - on a work bench, not in the car - and I worry debris from sawing the old valve will get inside the VC, 3) Quality of the new valve, how it seals into the VC, and how long it will perform are unanswered questions.
