Need new car

If you want performance that is second to none (apart of course from £2m hypercars) try a factory built Ultima GTR EVO. They are raw without sophisticated driver aids, but then it's a drivers car. Have a look at this https://youtu.be/dSNLdOnguQ8

Or of course there is a Lotus Exige or even a Noble.

If I was spending this much, the it would be, without hesitation, a Tesla S P90D..

The future for sure but not for me yet. Concerns over range and the life of the batteries plus the cost to replace them.

Yes it is very raw, mine is almost ready for the road and my wife already says she won't get in it.

I would certainly take a look at the Lotus exige for performance and unrivalled road holding or perhaps the Evora 400 the same as the Exige but with more comfort.

If I sell my Elan S4 I think the Exige is on the Bucket list.

If they're your concerns you should speak to Telsa and tell them that. The range will be greater than any of the cars listed above on a tank of fuel. The batteries also have a warrantee for something like 8 years.

...and they've just announced a higher capacity battery for the Tesla S P100D... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-37171455

I read and took that with a pinch of salt:

'The new battery extends the range of performance versions of the new Model S well beyond 300 miles (482.8 km), from about 290 miles, Tesla said'

So between the woolly words of 'about' and 'well over' it's increased it by 10 mph. Hardly a breakthrough, but great headline grabbing stuff

I thought the interesting bit was that they've managed to fit 100kWh into the same space as 90kWh without changing the cell chemistry - higher energy density is a good thing for eCars...

Does it have to be new?

At that sort of money driving it off the forecourt will have eye watering depreciation.

911 would be my choice probably the 991.2 C4S.

Currently everything around 100k is a limited edition, special run, one of 500 etcetcetc, the manufactuers are all on the same game ;)

If you buy the right car at the moment you wont lose any money, in fact you may even make some... even things like the AMG GT are barely losing value off the forecourt. Just make sure you buy something with a waiting list, skip the queue, and sell before that run of builds is finished, as the manufacturer will release another 'limited edition' to supersede it.

I look forward to the impending value crash when something realigns and everyone realises the true value of cars again! Eventually we will reach Peak Special Edition, i hope.

Tx. Looks beautiful. And great to see TVR making a comeback. I had no idea! why didn't I get that memo...?!?!

Anything non special edition won't tho... and a pretty average low spec 911 will cost you 100k even without discount.

Standard 4S is 90k to start with PDK, Bermester stereo, PDCC and sPASM and your at £101,500...

sPASM? That's the feature that kicks in when you add up the cost of all the extras you've just specced... :o

I had one when I saw that the Bermester stereo that Tom considers essential equipment in a 'pretty average low spec' car is a £3k option... :o
