Need help silencing this squeak that's driving me mad!!!

Car in question is a 2004 2.2 z4.
It's only a summer toy and as a result sitting with very low mileage and full BMW history.
Problem being a random squeak - one of those high pitch ones that's annoying as someone grinding their teeth. It's right at the top end of what I'm able to hear but no amount of radio or wind noise can hide it.
At first it was a wheel bearing or brake playing up but no luck there.
Today - I've actually discovered I honestly reckon it's throttle related. When accelerating or blip the thing in neutral it's there - only for a couple seconds max but long enough for me to use the transit van until I cure it.
Question being - has anyone any ideas?
Cheers

Sounds like a loose belt to me, you blip the throttle and the belt slips for a second or two then catches up and the squeak goes away...send me a dollar if I'm right...

I'm Kidding (about the dollar)

CJ10Jeeper and a few others had a similar problem i think. It was a crack in one of the air hoses between the Air box and TB. Above the throttlebody there is a little rubbery and ribbed (lol) pipe which is prone to splitting. The air being sucked in will make a high pitched noise.

Get someone to blip the throttle while you have a look, sounds like an air leak to me!

Looks like we may have a winner!

Pinhole leak in a hose........?? Good find, a nice easy fix and not too expensive. Better send Ed a gold star

New hose should be here tomorrow - so here's hoping its problem solved.
Thanks for the tips and advice - decent sites and advice are bordering on priceless.

Hi, just done a search on the forum re' this problem as I have the same problem! Did you have to get the hose from the dealers? If so, how much was it? I have a 2.5 with same prob.

Cheers
