Hello.
I got 2006, Z4, 3.0i, 18,500 miles. I have to drive 400 miles this coming weekend.
I read in owner manual that "Do not use any additive or fuel injector cleaner pour into gas tank."
Since the car was almost 4 years old and hardly drive long distance. Should I use some additive to
clean fuel injector?. Even the manual said NO. What will happen if I use it?. It will void warranty?.
Please advice.
Thanks in advance.
Andy

Just pay attaention to the manual and dont bother mate... These little additives are a complete cash cow. Just spend your money on higher octane premoum fuels and itll make much more of a difference.

Warranty however could only be voided if they find out, which is very VERY unlikely.

BMW specifically advise agains the use of any additive or cleaner in their engines - so why would you do it?

At best it will make no difference, at worst dislodge some crap and block the injectors.

I assume it will also invalidate the warrenty as well if it causes any engine prob?

9andy, welcome to the forum...
Just be sure you use one of the Top Tier Gasolines.
See this link.

My local dealer recommends Shell...
Top Tier Detergent Gasoline standard

All Shell gasolines meet TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline standard introduced by BMW, General Motors, Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen and Audi.

The U.S. EPA requires a minimal amount of detergent additive in all gasoline. However, the level is often not sufficient to prevent engine deposits from forming.

TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline helps keep engines cleaner than gasoline containing the minimum amount required by government regulation, and, thus, helps provide optimal fuel economy, performance, and reduced emissions.

TOP TIER Detergent standards were developed by BMW, General Motors, Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen and Audi and were aimed at reversing the national trend toward lower gasoline additive concentration.

I never add anything EXCEPT in the odd case that you are out of fuel in some backwoods place that only has low grade , low octane then I'll put in a dash of octane boost. (I got some at Pep Boys, they have about a million kinds). My Z3 really appreciated it, the engine light came on because of the difference in fuel but it went out after a tank of 'Normal" fuel. Note: I always carry a small bottle when I go cross country in the US...just in case.
