Hi guys,

My left headlight on my zed is full of water. It’s not the seal but a crack . The control unit is shot and i’m Wondering if anyone has a spare or can point me in the right direction.

Mine is a 2004 e85 and I’m in Sweden

Thanks

Niall

As Sweden is left hand drive you should also try asking on a more US-centric forum, as the UK headlights would point in the 'wrong' direction towards oncoming traffic in Sweden. Best of luck with the search.
And you've just reminded me I have two spare headlights sitting in the garage I should do something about....

Changing the direction of the lamp is no problem. Im driving an Irish Z4 in Sweden :) So about those spare headlights ?

Do you mean how you can put a 'deflector' or something inside the headlight to stop the beam pointing towards oncoming traffic -
don't people on this forum do something like that when going from UK to Europe for trips?
If it works I suppose you could buy RHD headlights for LHD market and have them pass inspection?
The problem with my headlights would be: 1) cost of shipping from NZ to Sweden could be quite high.
2) They are not xenons, so not fantastic for night driving. I didn't drive much at night, and mostly in the city so it never really bothered me too much.
Otherwise they're in very good condition.

Another thing: mine are facelift, so you'd probably need both left and right for a matching pair. They're also auto-levelling, but I don't know if the pre-facelift E85's had the motor for this? You can see them 'bounce' up and down a couple of times when you first turn the headlights on.

My E85 Xenons are auto levelling. I thinks it’s only halogens that require manual levelling.

IIRC there is a lever inside the headlights that convert them to lhd beam direction.

Can you explain the 'bounce' I had on my E85 with Halogens? I think I've seen this comment before, where if the headlights are auto-levelling, they 'must' be xenons. The headlights have 'H7' engraved on them which are the halogen bulbs. The parts that should have xenons in them are empty as far as I recall.
Edit - also, I think if you have xenons, they're listed as an option in the VIN decoder.
