Neat home vehicle lift

In one of my pen-and-paper invention moments I worked out a superb design for a home vehicle lift that uses a standard trolley jack, it is if I say so myself brilliantly simple, roll on then jack at the rear dropping the tail on to stands - but then did a bit of research and found a Guy called Mike Dawes beat me to it and has the thing in small scale production, :headbang: Best to you Mike, the garden shed boffin is alive and well in the UK :thumbsup: http://www.carlift-ramp-mr1.com/

That's brilliant - it could be stored up against a wall when not in use too :thumbsup:
 
I like that, I used to put my 911 on axle stands to take all 4 wheels off and clean it underneath, sad I know :D , however it's awkward with the Z, because I have quite a narrow garage and have to lift it from the side, this could well be the answer :thumbsup:
 
Stupid question alert... Do axle stands go on the axle, or on the jacking points ? Embarrassingly, I have never figured this out and always used the jacking points... Then been foxed as to how to get it up on 4 :oops:
 
Next stupid question - which bit ? There are so many parts and I have no clue which bits will break and which won't :cry:
 
Looks like a good idea to me :thumbsup: Bit pricey though at nearly £1200 :cry:

Love the fact that I clicked on the link, only to be greeted by a picture of and MGF up on the ramp :oops:

i put them on anything that is solid, axle or chasis, depends on which part of the car i am jacking and where i can get them

Structural points, never in the middle of a component, link, or anything that flexes. (Unless you want to replace a bent part)
