Nearside rear LED failure on light cluster

Hi

I noticed this evening that the 3 led strips/bars on my nearside rear light cluster have all stopped working. I don't have a bulb out warning light on the dashboard.

The only thing I did recently was to jet wash the car over the weekend but on looking inside the cluster after taking the access cover off, there are no signs of water getting in.

Could this be a repair or more likely to be a replacement?

07 plate E86.

Thanks in advance

Sadly, it will be a replacement unless you are very skilled at soldering. The bars are lit by 3 LED's, so no bulb failure light. There are 'how to' guides on here of how to repair them, but I bought a second-hand unit and fitted that as it was much simpler/quicker.

You can try taking it off and spraying contact cleaner inside and cleaning connections just in case.
But it's more likely failed, failed. Quickest fix is to just find a replacement but it will be repairable so don't just throw it away. Couple of people here have managed it soldering new components on, usually just a resistor or other small component that has burnt out.
Fix that and it will be worth the effort in sale price especially as these get older and less available.

Thanks for the replies, I've seen a guide on how to do the repair but it's beyond me, so I've managed to source a replacement instead.

I hope that'll be that once I've replaced the unit, but if it turns out that it was something else, I'll keep one unit as a spare 👍🏼
