Nearly soiled myself!...

I saw a car traveling towards me drive into a mahooosive pothole & send half a brick flying across the road & straight through the front of my Elise, i said some very bad words :roll:

I once had a lorry wheel hit the screen of a Shogun I had - I saw in incoming and it hit with a very loud Whack - To this day I cannot understand why the screen wasn't marked.
 
Friend had a lorry wheel nut get in-bedded in his screen. Covered him and his wife is glass. Day one of a weeks holiday up north........... :?
Also bounced off the bonnet on the way to the screen, just for added cost.
 
Looks good! OEM BMW one? Or a Pilkington?
Were you there when they did it? Did they put in the glass, followed by the rubber trim? My rubber is falling apart and was wondering if I can just rip it out and replace or if the windscreen needs to come out? :)
 
Anyone found out how much a Genuine Screen is for one of these? Previous owners before me have fitted an aftermarket one and I'm not a fan there's quite a big difference when aftermarket screens & bondent are used.

My wife and I were actually in a Vauxhall Vectra when we hit a flying pheasant that shattered our screen and showered us in glass, it's not very pleasant to see it coming at you.
A brick jammed in a lorries double wheels is a great inducement to overtake it!

Saint Gobain one.
I bought the BMW seal myself from Sopers for £20 with forum discount.
I watched them do it - not something I would recommend trying yourself as as the seal needs cuting out

Personally, I think it's fine. Just need to ensure a BMW seal I used. FWIW I paid £294 inc vat, Autoglass wanted £530!

Wagons often pick up large debris from their depots and parking areas which lodges between the wheels often at the rear of the vehicle. When they reach a decent speed the debris is flung out. I was on the M6 a few years ago and had a half house brick hit my windscreen dispatched from such a lorry. Instinctively ducked when I saw it flying towards me and hit the windscreen full on. Suddenly realised ducking was not a good thing to do in the outside lane of a motorway doing 70 :roll: Luckily not too far from an autoglass in Birmingham who sorted a new screen in a couple of hours.
