Nearly soiled myself!...

A small rock came flying at me from a passing lorry today. Dunno if it was carrying it or not, but it was huge!! I yelled an expletive and actually ducked as I thought it was going to come through the windshield and hit me, such was itโ€™s size!
Bounced off and gave me a crack:

Definitely a brown trouser moment there!!!

Iโ€™ve never had anything that big hit the car (touch wood), but my other half had a brick end hit his Boxster (narrowly missed bouncing off the rear wing after hitting the screen), and a chap at work had a load of bricks land on his brand new Golf!!

Good luck with the washing! :P

I had a huge bird turd hit the top rail above the front screen. It was right on target for my head, but exploded away from me ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Wish it was a bird-turd, I can clean that.
Dunno whether to replace the windscreen now, or not.

Similar situation last year with a piece of timber falling off a hay lorry

 Blimey, if thereโ€™s one up from a brown trouser moment, thatโ€™s definitely it...

My dad told me a story of years ago when his friend had a Daimler SP250...a bird hit it just between the screen and where the hood fixed on - apparently it โ€˜extruded itself all over the cabinโ€™ (shame there is no โ€˜being sickโ€™ smiley here!!)

Being sick smiley-

This wasn't a bird or brick just a little sh!t that regretted doin this to mine,

Thats quite a big crack! to be honest, i think it needs replacing sooner rather than later.

Had an Inspection II yesterday n'all!
Oddly, when you run your hand over it, you can't actually feel a crack...

Bet some pooh came out when that hit. :o Have ducked on a few over the years. :)

Tis laminated glass, so the crack can be entirely internal to the screen. As I would always suggest. The sooner it is sorted the sooner you can move on.

U may be right there.
Would I need to replace the rubber surround too? this seems to be the part - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-BMW-Z4-E86-Coupe-Windscreen-Moulding-Trim-OEM-51317210011-/131755660546

Wow i know even a small stone chip can really shock you so that must have been pretty terrifying! :|
Was quite a loud bang! Luckily I'm blessed with Ninja Like reflexes :)

A real Ninja would have drove around it
Glad you're okay

Wow, that must have got your attention!

I'd want to get it replaced as soon as possible. I'm sure I've read on here that you want to be sure whoever replaces it fits a genuine BMW seal.

Just be grateful it didn't look like Bombardino or Tug's screens! :o

Good point, better check the rest of the car...

That would be the first thing I'd do... windscreens can easily be replaced! Other panels, not so much!

At least it wasn't this...

the screaming at the end...

Hi,
Quick question - found a replacement here - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E85-E86-Z4-2003-2008-Front-Window-Windscreen-Glass-without-rain-sensor-095/203132781782?hash=item2f4ba844d6%3Ag%3ATD4AAOSw5s1ffxuE&fits=Car+Make%3ABMW%7CModel%3AZ4%7CCars+Type%3A3.0+si%7CPlat_Gen%3AE86%7CCars+Year%3A2007%7CBodyStyle%3ARWD+--+E86%7CVariant%3APetrol+Coupe%7CEngine%3A2996cc+195KW+265HP+N52+B30+A

Can I my existing rain sensor with this...?

Can't you just get auto glass or whatever out to you? Save you the ยฃ50 in petrol driving to the West Midlands and another ยฃ50 for a windscreen which may not be compatible?
