Nearly made 35mpg

Good isn't it - a 10 year old 3.0 bettering the modern stuff with ease.

Our recent 1700km drive back from Florence saw 39mpg driving at the speed limit wherever possible across Europe and through the UK on cruise. Highly impressive.

That's 35mpg on the OBC though. Don't work out what it really is because it'll make you cry.
Mine (worked out on Fuelly) is about 27.7mpg over 13k miles, OBC is showing 26.9mpg over the same mileage - not that far out IMO - and over a normal 10 gallon fill-up it's only 10 miles difference.

I am almost ashamed to post based on my signature fuelly... 39.9MPG based on the last 3-4 fill ups. Mostly dual carriage way driving but I do drive in and out of Derby every day, as well as uttoxeter for the gym most evenings and some B roads for getting home.

I do tend to take it steady on the A50 though, dont really see much time saving doing 70mph compared with 80+mph and speed on a dual carriageway is less fun than a good b road.

Reset the trip computer on the journey back from picking up my 2003 3.0 and got 41.8 over a 200 motorway journey at 70mph with a few overtakes.

This was without the use of cruise too as I hadn't yet worked out how to use it. :P

What's the purpose of having 2 mpg computers as they both show the average don't they?

They do, but having two that reset independently means you can have one as a long term mpg and one for the tank / journey.

For example, our recent euro trip saw trip 2 reset for the whole trip and the first one reset after each tank

I use one for long term average and the other for individual trips.

Not just driving style but tyres make a big difference, I had a Toyota Hilux double cab a few years ago and when new it did 39mpg on a regular basis, at 26k miles I changed from Wrangler Dueller tyres ( which were not very grippy) to BFG all terrains (amazing grip). I never saw 39mpg again, best I got was 34mpg after that. I think that the runflats that everyone seems to dislike give good mpg as they are quite a hard tyre & I'm quite happy with the 41.5mpg I got on a 440 mile run recently from a 3ltr non turbo'd engine.

I'm gonna reset mpg before the National Meet this weekend and see what the whole weekend costs in fuel

I wouldn't bother Ste lol I did just that last year was reading 3.9mpg for the weekend.

We did about 200 miles.

To everyone over 25 mpg:
Try to remove the foam in the sound generator - and say goodbye to anything near 35+ mpg! ;)

That and the quad killed it for me!!

My 330ci (2000,235bhp) manages around 29mpg with fairly brisk driving no problem at all and it's on around 140k. The computer tallies well with the manual measurements and if I drive it in the manner it wasn't designed for then it averages more like 33-34mpg. Great car mechanically but its rusting away in front of my eyes.
