Nearly made 35mpg

Just been on a 600 mile round trip and almost managed 35mpg out of a 10 year old 3 litre engine! I reckon I could have got it over 35 If it wasn't for the motorway cock-knockers who drive HGVs side by side spanning all 3 lanes trying to overtake each other when doing 0.00001mph more than the other vehicle.

Really annoying having to keep knocking the cruise control off every couple of miles.

That's 35mpg on the OBC though. Don't work out what it really is because it'll make you cry.

OBC reads high by 2 or 3mpg in my experience. My manual 03 3.0i will easily crack 40mpg (OBC figure) on a run, which is probably about 37mpg in reality. Pretty impressive I reckon.

Oh no is it much worse than the OBC reading? :o

It's hard to say because I reset the trip counter between fillups, but I reckon I get about 5-6 mpg less than what is indicated, based on mileage vs consumption while I've owned the car (6 months).

I didn't believe my OBC until I did 411 miles on 50 litres. That's 37 miles per gallon from a 3 litre, 265hp engine :D

I'm lucky to get that with my 2.0,and that's with me driving like a granny.35mpg is the best i've had on a fill up reset till empty in the real world.I managed to chuck in 49 litres at 380 miles =35.25.On the OBC it was showing 37.6.
Now the weather is picking up,this is gonna get a lot lower. :driving:

When i came back from Edinburgh after buying the coupe..

I managed just under 41mpg,and i reckon 43 would have been achievable of i "really" tried...

I recently did a SE London to the Lake Distrcit trip, 40mpg on the way up, about the same on the way back (41.2). A very low number whilst I was there  but I suppose that evens it out!

I'd say you need to be a bit more gentle with that 3.0 of yours, 600 motorway miles should see at least 38/39!

I love the fuel economy game! My last car was a diesel snore-o-wagon but was trying to get more than 60mpg over a full tank. Managed it once.

So the Z was a new challenge. To date, best journey was 42.2 OBC (my workings looked more like 41.5), cruising at 70mph (ish) on the motorway.

Average since I picked her up is at 32mpg. Didn't expect to get 25 so I'm chuffed! :driving:

Ì got 47mpg at 50 in 6th for a good 20 miles on way home today
3.0 si coupe
...not bad for an engine with 104k on the clock

130 miles round the Yorkshire Dales yesterday. No honing but a good few areas of "making progress"
37.1mpg. The sun was out, the lambs were gambolling, daffodils blooming etc...some days you just need to step back and bimble 8)

Did real readings of my last 300 miles of mixed motorway and A roads...

26mpg

Computer said 31 but I wasn't so sure so calculated it whilst filling up.
