today in the snow i came so close to wrecking my golf

was going down a very steep hill in first gear, no revs at all, then suddenly i felt the car sliding, next thing i knew the car had stalled and i was in free fall, back end was going faster than the front and the car decided to go side ways, everything was in slow motion as i was sliding past parked cars

luckily i got control i managed to miss everything

scarey moment lol

I had a very similar moment a couple of weeks back whilst working in Northern Ireland,i was on a snow covered country road and i came to a hill i had no way to turn round as i was driving a LWB sprinter van so desided go for it low gear no revs slowly slowly inched my way down the hill but the van broke loose and then i was in full on slide. The hill had a left and a right hand but managed to negoiate them and i came to rest at the bottom more through luck than skill it was a heart stopping moment.

Glad to hear you came away unscathed

Scary and could have easily ended in a wrecked car. Even a sideways tap on the kerb is a major damage prospect.

I had the opposite yesterday - car coming sideways down a hill towards me. He could not get up the hill so decided to turn but halfway during the turn he lost traction. Fortunately, he managed to stay more or less on his side whilst coming down, missing the cars on my side.
