Near to buying a Z4M roadster...

I really didn't want to buy privately and sell privately as trading in is usually hassle free.
However, I think we will go and see the private sellers black one (the one with burgandy hard top) as its just a few miles away.
Would have to sell the hardtop though as we have no where to store it!
 
I face this dilemma in the future too. I think the only place I will find the car I like with the level of care and attention taken that I want to see (irrespective of mileage Darren :wink: ) is on here. Which will be hard for two reasons - firstly having to shift mine to pay for a replacement, and potentially being car-less for a while, and secondly I have a feeling my preference for an imola red one will result in a long wait :(

Dependent upon a big 'if', I have come up with a Mad Plan to get in one by early next year buying privately, but the man with a mortgage and a family in me is screaming blue murder in my head :D

Worth saying you will probably get good money on here or eBay for a hard top with winter only a few months away.
 
I'm guessing maybe £500 for hardtop?

Burgundy is probably not a popular colour choice though as I have only once seen a Burgundy Z4since they were released!

I also can't really be car-less for any length of time.
I will be using it almost daily.

My only other option is to get a loan to buy the chosen car and then hope mine doesn't stay up for sale for too long, or end up going for silly cheap money.
 
You'll be lucky to find a hardtop in good nick for £500. £650 seems the low end and £900 the absolute top (read "insane") price.

You can still get them new in obscure colours from BMW Germany on the eBay.de site for around £550 plus shipping.
 
Is anyone familiar with Parkway Specialist Cars in Nottingham?

They currently have two Z4M's that look alright.
 
Both look very nice, I would be calling and getting as much information as you can (service history and condition)

I think they have had at least one of them a while now.
 
Red one they only got in this weekend all sounds good and worth a look.
quite low spec but two owners and vgc from what I can tell.

Yes I am, I spoke to them last week for a forum member looking at the CB one, the 2 guy's used to own/work for Parkway Motor Group, always had nice cars in, Z4's , Boxsters, Evo's, Aston Martin etc but have now broken away, have a unit where they keep the cars and bring them to their house to view, always had a good reputation at Parkway Motor Group IMO :thumbsup:

Not judging here, but it doesn't sound that professional considering the standard of cars they sell.

Not judging here, but it doesn't sound that professional considering the standard of cars they sell.

They probably have regular clients built from their service so no need for a flashy showroom from the bottom line cost - low over heads = cars priced more competitively.

I agree, they don't need all the bells and whistles, I went upto the house last week and Jonathan had a clipboard full of appointments for the day, I didn't have the time to go back so had a chat about the CB ///M and passed on his comments.

Red one in Nottingham will be due an Inspection 2 very soon.
Its run in service was at 1230 miles - Is this bad?

Black one in Nottingham seems very good on paper.
Just waiting for the guy to call back with a trade in offer on ours and maybe will take a look.

Others we have looked into:
Black one in Brighton - Silly spoiler puts me off so not calling that.

Sterling Grey one in Ilford - The trader is 'selling on behalf of a friend' and told me to call again in a week when the guy is back from holiday.

Sterling Grey one in Chester - Looks great, but it has no PDC!
Would that put you off? As I have currently crossed it off of the list because of this.

Its nice to have. If a car I was interested in had everything else but PDC it wouldn't be a killer. I have it but as others will tell you it would make much more sense to have front sensors! Its even less needed on a roadster as you can look through the open roof. :thumbsup:
 
I think it looks cleaner without PDC and it's quicker to polish and wax. So I wouldn't let that put you off. It's also a pain for me when reversing up the drive, going off constantly.

Nottingham red one seems to be a goer.
I like the black one, but I use the PDC all the time when parking.

They seem to have offered a decent trade in, so this is a contender.

They have told us that there is no movement on price though.

Why have they all told us this?

Haha just :poke: Sometimes there isn't and a dealer won't move if he believes he has priced it right to sell. If trading in you may get a higher offer for the trade in but nothing off the sticker price of the vehicle you are buying.
