Near to buying a Z4M roadster...

It doesn't feel any harder in the ride, just miles better.
It feels like a better set up, but its not crashy.
Our last one had the 'm' suspension pack.

Stopping is soooooo much better.

Driving is sooooo much better.

Yes the steering is a bit stiffer, yes the gear change from 1st to 2nd might need getting used to, but I overall prefer the feel of the steering, (especially with the comfy thick steering wheel), and the gearbox feels nicer and less notchy overall.

Traction also doesn't kick in as quickly as it would on the 3.0. (In my opinion)

Love love live LOVE it.

Should have done it sooner.

Only problem I have found, is the alarm has gone off a few times without reason.
Looking into that, fingers crossed its nothing crazy.

Regarding the alarm - check the sensor under the bonnet. It's a little square box with a pressure switch on the top located between the V made by the two braces where they meet the firewall. Common problem if you do a search

Will take a look. Thanks bing.
Annoyingly we park it in a secure lock up where we can't hear it, so we don't know if the alarms going off until we go to drive it.

Is the sensor expensive to fix if that's the problem?

I don't think so - it's a small simple switch. That said, we're talking BMW here. Let me see if I can find the part number on realoem and you can get a quote from Sopers

Sensor is about £11 IIRC and my replacement one failed after a few months, so I just left it unplugged

If you unplug it and it stops going off, then it's probably the switch.

When I unplugged mine, it was still playing up. I ended up needing to replace the siren/alarm at the rear.

The switch is a cheap but common failure. Hopefully it's just this for you.

Congratulations on your beautiful purchase.

Hurrah, my search has come to an end too with a 57 Interlagos Blue/Champagne Nappa Z4MR :driving:

So today we gave the Z4m a proper clean.
Clayed, polished and 2 coats of wax.
Also protected the roof so that the water beads off nicely.

It then hammered down with rain

Really loving the car so far.
Took it to the local independent specialist for them to check it over and see if they suggest for us to do any further maintenance on it (its not due an inspection for another 9000 miles), and they have it a full bill of health :)

It took some persuading front the other half, but so glad we changed from the 3.0 to this.
