Early start today for our much anticipated trip up to the highlands to complete the North Coast 500. Set off from Liverpool at 4am for the long drive North.

Couple of photo stops then breakfast in fort William. Tuesday morning traffic was kind to us and we enjoyed some near empty roads. The scenery is jaw dropping and even the overcast weather didn't spoil the first section of the trip. Early start tomoro for our 1st leg of the NC around to ullapool.

Left the zed on nessie watch!!!

Very nice Jay  You driving all the way round the NC500 with that huge Saltire sticking out of your car though ?

You have picked a good week to do this, its meant to be great for the rest of the week through till Monday

Im very envious. Certainly a trip that I want to do in the Z. Looks like you have picked a great week weather wise (fingers crossed pal) :D

Did the NC500 two years ago. Would like to say the scenery was great, but missed most of it :driving:

I managed 2000 miles in 5 days, so yes 3 times as many miles to get there and back

I'm feeling jealous!

Did a Scottish tour back in May 2008 with Mrs Tidy in my 123d.

Went up the East coast and came back down the West, and even though we didn't go further North than Inverness it was a great trip. (That was an essential, given that my Dad was born in Muir of Ord). :)

Just realised that was a decade ago. :o I'm feeling the need to head North again!

Have a great trip OP.

I'm going to move it to the Ariel before I leave. Thank God for the whippy

The NC500 has great, great scenery and fantastic roads, we added a day to visit the Isle of Skye when we did it last year which was worthwhile. Enjoy.

I think he’s under the misguided idea that if he fly’s the Saltire then the pesky midges that only eat Englishmen will leave him alone   :driving:

Beautiful morning in the highlands today. Started out at inverness castle for the 1st of 3 days on the route, out towards applecross.

Weather, roads, traffic, scenery, couldn't fault a thing. Just over 200 miles of 2 way and single track roads mostly in excellent condition.

Nice lunch stop at Gairloch before ending in Ullapool for the night.

Next leg of the route from ullapool to wick. Left bright and early in more glorious sunshine to finish of the North West coast. Quick stop in Lochiniver for some fuel then continued up to Stoer Lighthouse. From there we headed up to smoo caves for lunch.

The beaches and roads are absolutely epic, this part of Scotland is stunning. From the caves we drove to John O Groats before arriving in wick for our overnight stop. Edinburgh today, hoping for some good weather again.
