Hi there,

Always wanted to do something like that...I think I would prefer 3 day event to avoid rushing. I would have to get the ferry from Ireland and make it a very long weekend

Keep us posted!

I’d definitely be interested in the longer run (on top of the 7 hour each way to Inverness).

I have been pushing my Ring buddies to do it with me for a few years, but being based in the south means it’s quicker to get to the Ring than to Inverness.

Can’t confirm until our Ring calendar is agreed for next year (happens in December), and I don’t want to miss any many ring trips as I did this year (done more in the Alfa than the Z4, but a replacement for the 172k mile Alfa is being picked up today).

I’m definitely up for it but it would have to be 3 days (to make the one day drive up seem less of a chore). How many cars would you expect?

Craig, as discussed 3 days from Inverness is my preferred option...but I’m going come what may..

These types of runs usually get around 7/8/9 cars for a weekend meet.
Which is a good number for such runs.
Looks like a 3 day meet starting in Inverness itself is the favourite choice
Will add you as a possible/probable.

What is stopping you using the z, seeing you brought it to Skye this year?
What's replacing the Alfa?

The Alfa is used as Ring backup if the weather’s looking poor (as it has crossclimates on). Z4 is on Supersports and whilst fine in the cold, they’re not too good in slush - and I need mountain marked tyres for Germany in October/November.

The Z4 needs a sweating power steering pipe replaced, it’s annual Inspection 2, and the post-cat O2 sensors replaced (that were torn out at the National). My mechanic mate has been down with recurring bouts of pneumonia, so I’ve been waiting for him to feel up to it before taking it down to him, as I don’t want to trigger another hospital stay.

The Alfa has been replaced with an Alfa...just an Imola Red one (okay, Alfa Red)...with 100k miles less on it...and it’s a more powerful model (still diesel) so it can keep up with any Z140iM S.Drives that turn up.

Hope you get all your wee repairs done to the z before the Ring,if not, certainly by the start of next year's forum runs, mate.

The new Alfa looks nice,in Imola red,lol
Look forward to catching up again.
Is the Alfa. A 147, 2.0diesel?

Good stuff,Peter.
Looks like it's going to be 3 days, from Inverness castle (official start).

Over the next week or so,I may have to book some rooms, and to get decent rates we may have to reserve a certain number of rooms,eg. 8 rooms gives us a better Dinner ,bed and breakfast rate.
Will keep all those interested up to date :D

It's a lot to squeeze into 2 days if you want to see much.

On the accommodation front I'd suggest Delny Glamping for a laugh. It'd be good for a first(for those travelling) or a last night stay.

The pods are all new with good facilities. Showers, tvs and heating etc. There is only 4 pods and 2 log cabins.

In the centre of the pods is large BBQ area with a roof. It would be good for a party.
