Hi Chaps

Anyone know where I can purchase the wiring harness for the Navigation retrofot. I spoke to my contact at Holland Park (who's usually very good) and he said you can't get it anymore.

Part number is 61120301701

Anyone know of a dealer or anyone else that can get this?

Speak to Joe @ Sopers, he might be able to help.

Cooper Reading will let you order one: http://www.cooper-bmw-parts.co.uk/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&sku=61120301701&Search=Go&page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&option=com_virtuemart
so it's still listed

Paid for it at coopers, however they called me and refunded me saying they can't get it either :(

How does one contact joe @ Sopers?

Doubt they'd have it either - Cooper BMW would be trying to order it from BMW, as Soper's would, I expect.

Just Google Soper Lincoln if you want to give them a go.

Otherwise, try www.bmminiparts.com - do a parts search and if you can't find it log a request which will go out to a load of breakers.

Can confirm the number is the same as I bought from the main dealer 3 years ago. Very surprised you can't get them still, but I guess not much goes wrong with a loom that can't be repaired.

I did check with a German supplier for you as well but I am afraid they said that they can't get the harness either.

Thanks dude, I've seen this link already, I'm looking for the actual installation instructions and the template for the display.

Anyone able to help?

th30d0r3, have found and added the installation instructions to my list (see sig). They don't include the template though. However, I think srhutch may be able to help you there.

The only template I have is the one I made using the CID to actually mark around.

TBH it's easy do make you own, just ensure you have a vertical centre line and have a horizontal bend in the template where the CID bends round near the dash so you can line it up for cutting round.

Srhutch I'm sorry mate but I'm not sure what you mean about the lines.

Oh and thanks a million PawnSacrafice just what I needed.

EDIT: Reading it again, I now know what you mean, thanks dude

Ok an update here, I took a punt and purchased the X3 Harness after hearing back that BMW will no longer be making the Z4 variant or supplying them. Since there are 83 X3 versions in Germany (well 82 minus my one) I decided to buy it and adpat it to my purposes.

I can safely say it's very possible to do so with minimal effort. Here's what I know:
The E83 Loom is longer than the E86/E86 Loom, meaning you can run it down the side of the car as opposed to down the middle.
The white connectors for connecting into the main loom are not the same, they're black and only 8 pin and are also located at the front of the loom where the stereo connector is.
There are 4 wires that you need to be concerned about (so far) they are, the Red+Yellow, Purple+White, Red+White+Yellow & Blue+Yellow. The other merely bridge the gap between the two connectors.
I removed the connectors completely and spliced them into their corresponding connectors on the main loom.

I have tested this and it's working 100%, I'll add some pictures in the morning so you can see what I've cut off and where I've spliced. all in all it's a very easy alternative. I also have the wiring details to create the z4 version from scratch curtesy of BMW tech division and Soper Joe's hard work.

Anyone looking to do a retrofit unless they buy the complete kit or can source the Z4 harness (which is not over £250 online) can purchase the x3 version @ £80.84 from the stealers and adapt it. I'll also offer to adapt the loom for you for free (forum members only) if you pay for the parts and postage; can't see there being too many of these requests.

th30d0r3, I can see you being one of the go to guys for the audio / nav style problems. Good work again

Look forward to the pics when its done
