Navigation CD/DVD Fault

My navigation system is showing the following fault when selected. Any thoughts or is this a common fault?

Is it a genuine DVD? Is it free from scratches?

As Bradz above and certainly worth cleaning it and reloading

Tried the above recommendations today. Cleaned the disc (which is a 2004 spec original disc) the drive made a few noises but still no joy with the system starting
