I have been trying to update my software for a veeeeery long time! No luck yet.

Can anybody confirm, that I have to go through V2* (example version 27) before I can go to V32?
My software is one of the very first: 4-1/12.

Can't figure it out! :(

Not sure on that. No harm in doing an intermediate step though. What have you tried?

A lot!
Burned V27 and V32 myself. Not sure I'm doing it correctly.
Ordered a V32 (burned) from someone how know how to do - he has sent 2 different copies now, but both V32.
Tried different ways before I insert the Update-disc - start up the car before, and so on...
The map-disc haven't been in the drive for a long time, but it reads the map-disc perfectly when insert.

But i will not start the update, when I insert such a disk. :x

You are burning them as an ISO image? If the nav computer is reading the map disks then its ok

Yes, I think so - haven't tried it before. Just found a guide in here (the one that show you how to change splash screen).

Are you burning your CD's at 1x speed? Has to be done that way else in my experience they fail.

Equally you can't upgrade to the same version so if you tried V32 and it failed go back to say V27 and install that then try again.

I went through a phase where I upgraded mine 20 times as I kept adding and changing road colour, launch images, colour of sky and scene.

That's only really true of older burners. I've never had a problem with one burned at full speed (52x on my current system). If you can read the disc without error on a PC and it's in ISO format then it will read on another machine.

Mine says 80, not 00, so I need to update??
You're running v28. You should be able to update straight to v32. Mine had v27 on when I got her and upgraded to v32 without issue.

Stuart - that may well be true, but is my experience of using several writers and is stated on x5?forum as a common issue. I'm sure you're right that technology should allow faster speeds.

Can't remember what version I was on but it was the original version the car shipped with in 2007 and went straight to a customised v32 without issues

Found this to be the case also. Think i got away with 4x but nothing faster.

Yes, at 1x speed and 3x and max. Still the same.
And I am still on the first firmwear - know the 'problem' about updating the same version twice.

I would be VERY thankfull, if anybody could post a tested V32 and eventually a V27 or simular!!
Of course I'm willing to pay a bit for postage.. :)

I'm out of the country for the rest of the week, but if someone doesn't send one by Friday PM me and I'll send the one I used
