Hello, I am doing a Navigation Retrofit and I Got The CID Screen Installed and know I am planning on running the wires and hooking it all up and looking at my instructions I need to "do an ENCODING" What is that an how do i do it. And any guides on removing the center and rear panels??
Thanks

No encoding required, just plug and play. I assume you have bought the loom from your local dealer and already have the DVD drive, heandunti and antenna.

There are psots on hee somehwere on how to remove the interior, it's not hard just take your time.

How did you find cutting the hole?

Hi

Err, didn't you connect it all and check that all the components are working before you cut the hole in the dask for the screen?

Definetely advisable so connect it all now (over the car) before you start taking the interior apart to run the cables through/install the dvd drive.

Rgds.

I have another question I fitted everyting on the car. The navagation seems to work fine. How do you get the voice actavation to work.
The next thing is that when i take off the car the navagation unit (MK4) Stays on the red light blinks. IS that Normal??
Thanks

P.s Cutting The Hole in my dash was the hardest part and most nervous.................

voice activation iirc has to be linked to the bluetooth module if you have it, and even then i think you need a program called navcoder to enable it (using an ibus-usb cable).

Andy is right the voice activation is linked to the ULF module for the bluetooth and which generation of module you have governs if it works anyway. I have an 8th generation in the Z4 and it does not work and a 12th in the X5 and it does. The MFSW buttons are then pressed to activate it.

Frankly it's a waste of time so I'd not bother, unless you already have it installed and just want to get it working.

Re the light- yes, that stays on until the car goes in shutdown mode after 15 minutes.

Thanks for all your fast reply...I really appreciate.. Thanks again the labor to install the navi was well
worth it in my opinion. Plus it adds value to my car.........

Well Here I go i have a New question i Finally got to try out the new navagtion i installed in my car today while i was driving an ERROR MESSAGE CAME UP.. it said " Correct Guidence Destination not Possible" What could this be. also i cant hear not one talking to like .make left or right turn etc. any help would be nice

Has the voice messages i.e. turn left ever worked, I had this issue when I retrofitted.

With regard to "Correct Guidence Destination not Possible" sounds to me like the system has lost the GPS. Go into the secret menu andd see if the GPS is working in there.

Secret menu go to set/menu screen and press and hold the menu button until you get the secret menu

I went into the secret menu an there is 4/5 sat. thats its reading. so i dont know if i hve to code it, firmware upgrade or get a newer disk
i have the 2007 disc rite know i am using.

No need to code anything...
Just get the latest OS for your MKIV. It should fix the problem.

Ritch300,

do you have the uprated stereo option (loudspeaker) in your car (i.e. bmw amp and bass speakers behind the seats where the storage bins would be)?

When I retrofitted my first nav, my car had this and the only way i could get voice instructions was indeed to get it coded at the dealers (I never bothered...).

Could this be your issue?

Chris.

the voice for the nav goes into the same plug as the cd changer and aux in.

when i retrofitted this i unplugged the nav by accident and lost all voice, then had to merge the plugs together to get it all back.

worth checking

Andy the Nav voice commands are in the bluetooth plug on the back, not the CD, I know this as I plugged them into the CD one as I didnt have any other plug (dont have bluetooth) and of courser it didnt work. Bought a Bluetooth connection plug and connected to there and all working. :D

Ok i have the upgraded system with the speakers in the bin behind the drivers and pass seat with the amp.
Last night i up dated my OS system to Version 31 and still not luck the lady is still not speaking to me :( and i keep getting
"Correct Guidence Destination not Possible" would i need to undate my cd map cause its an 2007 map. or do i need
to unplug my battery and reset the nav.......how do i get this thing to speak lol

Can you confirm the two following points.

1. Where have you connected the two pins in the back of the headunit
2. Confirm you are using an original DVD map (copied maps are not supported on this forum and are know to be problematic)

I connected them to the radio/cd harness
Yellow/Red wire pin 5
Yellow/brown pin 11

Yes the Cd I am using is a factory CD.............

Thanks,

Ok i took my radio out an make sure i had the wires in the correct pin
(Yellow/Red wire pin 5) (Yellow/brown pin 11) They were in the right spot but was not correctly installed.
ok from the Main clip there is a White Mini clip and a Black Mini Clip attached inside. You have to take out the black clip. The black clip
holds pins 1-12. once you take out the black clip u have to open the clip it will be two separate parts. put
the wires in their correct pin position then put the black clip back together. The reason why there are two parts to the
black clip is that when you put the wire in. It LOCKS IT IN PLACE. so when u put it back into the main clip and you connect
the main clip to the Navagation cd/radio the PINS CONNECT HANCE MAKING THE LADY TALK.....

Thanks srhutch, when i checked my connection i finally figured it out...........

P.S this i did not know.
i just put the wire in the pins but did not LOCK THEM HENCE THERE WAS NO CONNECTION.
live and learn i guess...know i just have to find out why i keep getting
:headbang: "Correct Guidance Destination not Possible" :headbang:
I am living in a fairly new neighborhood so i guess thats y not to sure...i have an old dvd 2006
will try to upgrade to 2009.1 but at $200. will hve to wait a bit.

Glad you got the voice sorted, dont the instructions tell you to split the plug? and it must have looked different than the other wires as the plug wouldnt have gone in so far. It's working now though thats the main thing.

Regarding the DVD a 2006 Disk should work without any problems. I am guessing you have the High version and not the professional Version otherwise it wouldnt work at all I guess
