Nav issue "Please wait..."

Guys,

Im having randoms issues with my nav and have captured the behaviour on video and photos ready for the $tealers on the 1st July to take a look under warranty.

I had this documentary evidence as I have been unable to fully replicate the issue at will - something I fear that without, the $tealers will say "sorry, cant see the problem - goodbye"

The issue i can replicate is that if I start the car and literally immediatly drive away, the nav, once it kicks into life, comes up with the "Please wait a moment" message but stays like that....until I stop and turn the car off for at least 5 or so minutes.

Anyone get this? If not, perhaps you can give it a blast the next time you drive.
Oh mine is a 06 3.0si with prof nav and v31 (i think) of the firmware...

Cheers
Jamie

This is exactly why I got my Z without the Navi. I use a TomTom well positioned and if the lady that tells me miss-behaves I suspend her and get another TomTom :)

Sorry I cannot help, I elected not to get the iDrive nor the Navigation system since I red quite a few bad reviews. Good luck in resolving your problem.

I assume you have an original disk (map) in there? I know those errors pop up on (illegal) copies.

The more recent original disks have changed to a dual-layer format, which is more prone to reading errors. You can replace the DVD drive to fix that (costs ~100-150 euros), but you can also make a copy ('some assembly required') of the original disk to a single-layer DVD5 format, which is less difficult to read.

What version of the DVD firmware are you running?

I know the latest ones.. possibly from v31 onw had some changes to improve reading from DL disks.

I now have a 2010-01 High disk in mine and never had this problem.

As per orig post :poke: im running v31

Have you tried the original disc (if you have one)?
Is the DVD reading when this happens?
When it happens does the DVD come out from the drive?
Has you OS CD been modified?
Try upgrading to the latest version that hasn't been modified.

EDIT: Make sure the dealers don't catch you with that copy or... :telloff:
