"NATIONAL MEET;LAKES & DALES,JULY 1st/2nd/3rd

to be fair we all drive hard but never beyond our limits- Sammyz leads in his M and my 2.2 is never more than two or 3 cars back without any worries to keep up.

Hi guys been on a couple of pistonhead runs and of course the famous peppymint runs so have know problem with spirited driving :driving: but the missis moans when iam driving at normal speeds.

I think iam going to have to send her off for a spar weekend ,i just couldnt come along and drive like miss daisy while you guys are having fun.

It has nothing to do at all with 2.2s 'keeping up', the pace is pretty damn quick on every meet I've been on (when road conditions and other traffic allows) so if you're carrying an anxious passenger jonny, she'll hate it. I also don't think you'll find (m)any volunteers for a Miss Daisy group on these meets either, although one couple did complain a bit at the National Meet last year! :?

Really my question was that i know a few are bringing other halfs and in my experience most other halfs dont like you driving fast so i was just wondering if there is a less pacier pack.I thought i read some where that there may be a slower group. Must be mistaken
Totaly agree with you every meet ive been on is done at pace which suits me just fine , the pacier the better within road conditions of course.

I must admit when she said she would like to come along i thought bugger.........ill put her off for the sake off our relastionship :D

looking forward to this ,the roads look pretty amazing , we just dont get scenery like that down south.

Not sure what u are getting at here braddders but all I am saying is that yes a quick pace is set but by no means do we drive close to the limit.

Yep you right send her shopping

You must be wealthy. No way can I let my Mrs go on a shopping weekend. 2 hours is enough spend to bring a tear to my eyes. Spa weekend would be much better as it costs a bit up front, but nowt to do then but drink carrot juice and get scrubbed up.

Hey, would we be opposed to having a mate follow us.....
I guess I should mention, he might have a tough time keeping up (he freely admitted)
He drives a blue
Dodge
Dakota
He likes driving (to include going fast), just has the wrong vehicle.

I'm not entirely sure we will be able to make it up (got a wedding to plan), or if my fiance is going with me, or not (if not, my mate will probably ride with me) but just curious how ya'll would feel about an American truck making the trip.

I'm not sure why there has to be any need for anyone to "keep up" with other drivers on meets. Just drive at your own pace. If that dictates that you drop off the back of a group or hold up the person behind then tough sh*t.

Surely it's as simple as that?

I've not been on any z4-forum meets south of the Border, but my observations are that Scottish meets sound a lot more laid back Of course I could be wrong but that's the impression I get. Not sure if that's a good thing or not, but hopefully you won't be disappointed with the pace this weekend Bradders75 :D

I've not been on any Scottish meets (yet :D) but I think you're completely wrong having that impression mate. All of the meets I've been on (at least half a dozen now) have been laid back with everyone looking out for each other. The point I was trying to make was that I've not been on one yet where there was a 'slow group', so someone turning up hoping for that might well be on their own. I'm not a head banger by any means but I try and enjoy the car when it's safe to do so. The train of Z4s on the Evo triangle blast in Wales the other week was an amazing experience. :driving:

:D

Perhaps what I should've said was there's been no complaints from anyones passenger so far, and that includes my wife who - like jonnyfive's other half - don't enjoy spirited driving. Heck, I even brought my mum on the last meet and she didn't reach for the sh*tbag/Jesus handle once (not that there is one in the roadster...). What I was trying to say was I don't see the need for anyone to not being their other half to any meet because of the driving speed: just slow down a bit if the "speed detector" in the passenger side of the car goes mental

Surely your memory is playing tricks on you,
I seem to remember a certain member of the maldives club being warned last year, and my better half was not far behind.
That said I've done runs on both sides of the border and not found the pace on either difficult, quick when conditions allow and appropiate at other times, if meet up points are arranged before hand and rear gunner employed there is no reason why anyone should drive faster then either they or their passenger are comfortable.

RESULT!!! the missus has decided not to come now :D Shes going back to France to see her mum.

Camping ,BBQ, Z4 driving and fellow members and all with out the missus moaning.

Fortunately the other half is comfortable with my "press on" style of motoring although the odd sharp intake of breath and clutching of seat bolsters does not go unnoticed...

I agree with Bradders tho, the evo triangle run was epic and there is quite a difference in pace and driving styles and some did get left behind/lost on that run. Also massively important though that no one feels the need/pressure to drive at a pace they are not comfortable with...

Hi Jonny, while it is a spirited drive, the other halfs that come along tend to enjoy it..i think there was around half a dozen (female) passngrs each day last year(aprox),tho it all depends on how "nervy" your wife is as a passenger,as its not for evryone.......tho,if u like spirited, but safe, driving,u will love it,and the scenery is great...almost as good as scotland itself :D

Hi Aebous,
no probs if your mate wants to come alomg,as a passenger ,in your z4,but tryimg to keep the z4 meet as purely z4's ( i'm afraid),otherwise my best mate would be coming along,in his bmw 330i coupe(which he wanted to/but it aint a z4,either).
And the meet could easily end up with as many non-z4s as z4s,lol
Look forward to seeing u there again tho, cheers;and ur mate/fiance if they come. :driving:
When did u get engaged then,as she was recently still ur gf? :D

It's all good, I stupidly mentioned that I might not try so hard to make this and she took the opportunity to make other plans. Technically the other plans were there all along she just wanted to go up there with me. Anyways, if she doesn't go my mate will ride with, if she does, he will just have to wait for the next run.

I proposed to her on May 7th. We have been dating for a year & a half now. Just found out I can most likely stay in England for another year by marrying her. The catch is, with all the paperwork that needs to be done-we pretty much need to be married yesterday.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to this meet now. My younger brother's graduation ceremony is on the same weekend and it will be my last chance to see him before he disappears to Singapore (for work) for a few years.

I'm really sorry to miss it, but hopefully I will be able to make it to the next meet!
