NATIONAL MEET 2014... (FRI),SAT.&SUNDAY 11TH/12TH/13TH JULY

Just back from a weekend in the Yorkshire Dales having a look at some routes etc. Got home and I'd received this letter:-

'Dear Mr Sammyz,

I am writing to apologise for the inconvenience caused to the Z4 Forum Annual National Meeting that has had to be re-arranged due to the Tour De Yorkshire taking place on your traditional weekend.

As a gesture to you and your club Yorkshire Dales Council and the Yorkshire Dales National Park have undertaken a comprehensive road improvement programme on some of the roads that you usually drive. This work has included resurfacing to stretches of uneven tarmac, the filling of potholes and remarking to the road surfaces. we understand this will be especially helpful to those poor owners who drive M coupes which have very firm suspension settings :D

We sincerely hope that your club and it's members will accept this gesture of goodwill and continue to grace our roads with your beautiful cars in future years.

Yours Sincerely,

Mr B Wiggins, Highways Integrity Engineer.'

bless them! :D :D

Are you sure? I mean.. I'm likely to be sat in the campsite, drinking beer, having a good time in the dark... Hotel Dwellers aren't used to the outdoors are they? There's scary things out there in the night.. like ducks.
:poke:
And strange individuals drinking beer in the dark??

Are you trying to wind people up/p*** them off, Ian/sk93,lol :poke: .
What does it matter where people want to stay?? :D

Anyway, on another note....Raffle prizes are now coming together, but will wait til I have them all until I post up this time, but it will be a smaller Raffle than last year (just 10-12 prizes) as it was getting TOO BIG.
Hopefully we can still raise a decent amount of cash for Charity again though

Cheers John for doing the Route reccies/organising, much appreciated as always mate :) :driving:

Ok, whether I come on my own or not, which is the best hotel there and is it worth me driving up from London on Friday, taking half day off work, or coming down early on Saturday morning? Most people heading back Sunday afternoon?

Any hooners driving up from London on either days?

it's best to come up on the Friday IMO - as you'll probably not be up for a hoon around on the Saturday after the long journey up - plus you'll miss all the tourist traffic in the morning that way.

I believe everyone buggers off after the second run on the Sunday.

I can't advise on Hotels however, but the Crooklands (recommended in first post) is pretty good and very close to the campsite

:hairdryer:

You know.. I think this was exactly the concern.
That and "not being able to have a poo for three days"
Quite why she can't have a pooh for three days is beyond me, but apparently, it's ground for an argument :?

You want The Crooklands Hotel that is right next to the Campsite. We have dinner in there on the Friday evening.
This is my 4th year at the National and I normally leave home on the Friday at 9.00 and arrive about 14.00. (250 miles from Enfield).
I like getting the tent up and have a few beers from the campsite Bar and "catching up" with the guys before the evening meal.
I don't normally head back on the Sunday although most do. First year I stayed in a B&B at Windermere on the Sunday Night and had a drive around on the Monday on my own before heading home.
Last year myself and Dave (bladeowner) stayed the extra night at the campsite getting a Chinese from a local Village and a few beers at the Hotel bar in the evening.

You'd have to leave London early if coming down on Saturday morning as we normally depart around 10.30 -11.00 for the drive.
Would definitely recommend coming down on the Friday Nick.

Craig32,
Newbie looking to attend my first "National Meet". Thanks for organising this, appreciate the effort involved.
I live near Richmond North York's so intend to (at least) attend Sunday and if I can get my pass out Saturday as well.
Where are you intending to travel on the Sunday across from the lakes...i.e. where could I intercept the meet...is the route already defined??
Names John and I am the proud owner of a Titanium Silver '07 3.0Si Roadster with Navy nappa and perfectly original as it left the factory!

Will do....will confirm route nearer time :driving:

Craig,
Any closer to understanding the route in to Yorkshire and where I could intercept the group?

J.

Hi,

I've the task of picking our routes, traditionally the Lakes Saturday Dales Sunday. I may mix this up a little this year :o

Additional complication this year is that I am not sure how many cycle events are likely to be taking place in the Dales that weekend. The roads used in the Tour de Yorkshire might be busy with cyclists anyway. As a consequence I've got several routes in mind but will not decide until very close to the weekend we are at Crooklands.

Anyone planning to join us 'on route' will need to ring/txt Craig to arrange a meet point. Best idea though is to get to the Crooklands Hotel for the start!

Thanks for that John...will speak to you again soon all going well.

Re the meet, I have been very busy with work as well as house stuff to sort out, and still working on Raffle prizes for this year folks....as had a far harder time getting prizes/stuff, and less time to chase things up, having been on Holiday etc. but will have things sorted for the time, and will put the list up when its complete, prior to the meet :D

See you all in a couple of weeks folks :D :driving:

Wee 2-week(ish0 bump for this.
Oh, and also to say that I will put up a list of Raffle prizes once I have finalised them, as its taking more time and effort to come up with them for some reason this year...tho as said a while ago, the plan was to have a smaller prize-fund, as last years was HUGE, and took too long as a result, lol....so will put info up prior to meet :D

Hopefully we can get a good donation together this year, as we have done in the past/regardless of prize funds.
