Newbie saying hi.

Bought my 108,000 miles, 2.5L E85 last Tuesday from someone in Dartford. It had done 95 miles between the last two MOTs and I drove it home 125 miles to Watton, Norfolk.

I knew the tyres were perished as it had stood for so long and saw they were made in week 17 2014, so I thought Id just replace them as and when kinda thing.

The next morning I went out to ooh and ahhh one the Zed and saw this...

So it was off to ring round the local tyre dealers and deal for 4 new ones was agreed for for £400 (should have been 430, but buying all 4 got me a good discount).

While they were fitting I got a chance to have good look at it. Fully adjustable coil over had been fitted, not the best brand (Max Speedingrods) but seem to be ok driving it. I do need to fiddle to find out what's what.

The disc are a bit worn/ looking dodgy and the handbrake doesn't work very well, but I'll see if it improves (it had stood for a while), if not I'll replace them.

The serpentine/ Aux belt was perished, so I replaced that, but for £15 it was bargain!

So I gave it a new car clean, as you do. and got a good haul from various hidden places, under seats, battery box etc.

Yes one sock!!! Now in the bin!

So the car.... Seen here with the daily 5 Series 2.0L Touring with added bling bits and newley re-furbed wheels.

As it hadn't been loved for while I've given the roof a good going over with Autoglym cleaner and finished it off this morning. (yes, my arms really are that long!)

I've had various kinds of cars over the years. Namely things like Range Rover P38's, Alfa 156/ 159 and this is my third Beemer. So I'm used to them showing their 'personality' and I've found the trick is keeping the smoke inside the coloured string they call the wiring loom.

So anyone local to Watton, give me a shout.

Glad you managed to join up. As you know I’m only just up the road and there are a couple of others around, Wymondham, Norwich, Whissonsett.
Handbrakes are notoriously fickle bet you may find a clean up and adjustment will do the job.
Look forward to meeting up before too long.

Welcome along and good to see you have a sense of humour as you will need it :D Lots of info in your first post and photos too

Welcome aboard, not many people can wash the entire car without moving with arms that size

Looks like a nice project

Welcome and a great first post. Just spent a week in Holt on holidays and very struck with N Norfolk.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Forgot to say the top of the drivers and rear passenger side wings have crazed then someone has tried rattle can it straight over the top :headbang:
I've T-cutted and polished them and they aren't too bad, but still noticeable. I've found some local on eBay the right colour (Sapphire black)and put an offer in but not heard anything yet.

Now the roof if dry, its better but not brilliant and I'm left with these spots. I'll leave it a couple of days and use the rest of the Autoglym cleaning kit to see if I can improve it.

[ref]Stevo1987[/ref], The bends either side of Watton are nice, shame there is only a few each way!

[ref]Usel[/ref], Just spent the afternoon with Enuff and he said you had PMed me, I just hadn't had time to come here today, have to earn some money for the fun stuff. I think I have to post a couple more times before being able to reply to your PM!

3 posts & you can PM

Another Norfolk guy here, Sprowston, Norwich 8)

I used to work in Hingham so know the roads/ area well

I’m afraid you won’t find me on a bike, I was brought up in Glasgow where it wasn’t really the weather ANYTIME to go out & get wet very fast :(

Do you drive into Norwich much?

[ref]jock156[/ref], I think [ref]Jollygiant[/ref] could be just the chap you need to get to know.
Ditch your hydrodipped stuff and talk to him about the real deal!

Mind you, given you are shorter than me you'll need a step-ladder to converse with him.

I'm gonna call you 'Mr Tickle'.

Welcome from me over the border in the 'flatlands' (otherwise known as 'little Romania'). :D

Hi Welcome to the forum. I'm fairly new to Z4 ownership (Nov last year), the forum has been fantastic. Some great people with fantastic knowledge and far more talented than me!
For cleaning the soft top - mine was very soiled like yours in the pics. I used Gtechniq general purpose cleaner which you dilute to strength. Sealed with Gtechniq fabric sealant. Came up really well, can now see the outline of the factory sticker/label on the hard part of the roof.
Enjoy Zedding!
