Nankang tires?

Hello! I am in the process of buying my first Z-4 and am very excited. I have it narrowed to two 2008 si's and wanting to make a educated decision. A concern I have about one of the cars is the fact that the dealer just put new tires on it, "Nankang AS-1" and says they are great tires. However I am leery. Does anyone have any experience with these tires?

cant say i've ever even heard of them. :( but on another note, welcome to the forum, i'm sure somebody on here will be able to help you. :P and best of luck on your purchase!
 
Nankang: on their way to becoming the new "Falken" tyres (sorry, tires...). i.e. budget brand but actually pretty good. IIRC one of their "high performace" tyres actually gets decent write-ups. Slightly different but I've got Nankang SV-2 winter tyres on my VW camper and have been impressed - not particularly releavant to a 265ps RWD car though...

You can easy replace the rears or fronts with good quality tyres, wouldn't let that put you off buying a good car :)

The little that I have read about them has led me to believe they are not the best option for a Zed. The one common concern that I've read a number of time is that wet weather performance leaves a lot to be desired.
 
Hi! Thanks to everyone for the replies to my post. I am fortunate to have 2 Z-4's to choose from and it is a tough decision. Both 3.0 si with sport and premium packages....monaco blue with saddle brown interior. I can't wait to own one! :D
Good comment not to let the tires stand in the way of a good car...although the dealer now has offered to trade them out if I want....

+1 if dealer will change to another brand, and that's your car of choice, try to get some well known reputable tires fitted. A quick forum search will show you a few brands that are highly regarded by forum members :thumbsup:
