Nails in tryes

Hi guys
Just want your opinion on something.

Z4 Coupe is in the dealer this morning as I heard a big crash - turns out a rear shock absorber top mount is split. Should be covered under AUC warranty.

Dealer just called me to say that I punctures (I believe nails) in both front tyres. Do you think I am just unlucky or do you reckon someone has done it? Not upset anyone as far as I know!

I rarely park it anywhere other than home, work and supermarket!

Thanks
Rob

unfortunate is my guess. maybe deliberatly chucked on the road to get people but if some one was going to the hassle of going after you why 2 wheels not all 4?

can you get them fixed if its in the midle of the tyre then you can get them sorted (maybe not on rft)

Yes you can get them fixed if not in the sidewall, even on a RFT. But many tyre places will not fix RFTs on the assumption that you will have driven on the flat tyre and destroyed the sidewall. As long as you haven't, try to find somewhere that will fix them, even if you have to sign a disclaimer.

Or...take the opportunity to change to non-RFTs!! :D

?? Since he presumably has driven on them while flat, the sidewalls have presumably been damaged ... that's how they are designed /// So, repair would be inappropriate.

Run-flats ... (if you drive on them) ... you can't use them again. C'est la vie. Better than having a blow-out.

Hi Guys, thanks for the replies

Got the car back from Coopers BMW in Reading. Got the rear shock top mount replaced under warranty

They showed me a couple of photos of the nails and one was in the sidewall and the other in the middle of tread of the tyre. Going to have to work on the assumption I was just unlucky and got the nails on the road.

I got them to price match Blackcircles for new tyres replaced - unfortunately with more Bridgestone RFTs for about £160 each

Hopefully it doesn't happen again or I might have a bigger problem!
