Hi all

Anyone changed the two post cat lamda sensors on the n52?

How hard is it to do? I’ve got the crows feet sockets but clearance looks ‘limited’

Cheers

Stuart

When I did mine 1 1/2 months ago, I was able to do three out of four myself with a special sensor socket; both post cats where pretty easy without having to remove a lot besides the plate underneath the car, and the easy to reach pre cat. The lower, harder to reach one (bank 4-6 I think) I had done. Couldn't figure it out with the tools and space I had.

Summary: post cat lambda sensor replacement easy.

It’s easier if you unbolt the exhaust from the downpipe. Gives you a lot more space.
But depends how rusty the nuts are on the exhaust.

They either come out easily or like mine have to be burnt out and manifold rethreaded. Impossible job on my car and local garage sorted it but I now get a code now and then suggesting air might be getting in around the sensor

Either that or the heat has destroyed the sensors
