N52 Exhaust tips E85 3.0Si

The tips on my exhaust ( Part no. 2058833206 ) are beyond saving. Done a full polish job today but the chromed surface has broken down. They are the staggered round tips with 70mm diameter. They don't appear to be slide on versions so presume they would need to be cut off or have a sleeve tip applied over the top but I'm not sure if there is space between the 2 tips to accommodate this.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for replacements or good slide on versions please?

Thanks

The tail pipes on all N52 Z4s are 18307551507, and are the slide on type. You often have to get a sturdy piece of wood and hammer to knock them off from behind.

Abit of WD40 helps to free them abit before sliding off.

Ive had Amazon tips on mine for a while which work well (see previous posts) but getting a new set of OEMs ones hence selling my old OEMs ones (welcome to make an offer).

+1 on need to use significant effort to remove the OE exhaust tips. They have claw clips designed for retaining them.

What I discovered was that sanding my OE tips was pretty futile - the OE parts (at least on my 2006) are chrome plated, but apparently done cheaply. Chrome is very hard and will not sand off where it is well anchored, but it micro-cracks and even in salt-free environment corrosion wll cause it to roughen. My solution was to remove them, clean then, and apply several coats of silver wheel paint with sanding between coats. They've been good for a couple of years now - but I don't drive my Zed in Winter. Stainless steel, brushed or polished, would be my preference to chrome.

Ok so if you are looking for new exhaust tips for the N52 (not sure if same exhaust for other models) these are the measurements you will need

external diameter of the exhaust pipe (once tip removed) - 63mm (called inlet diameter when looking for tips)
external diameter of the original exhaust tip ( Part no. 2058833206 ) - 72mm
total width of both tips and gap - 150mm (6mm gap)
length of original tip - 95mm

I think the longest you could go with a tip that goes on to the outlet to the same length as the BMW tip is 110mm otherwise it will stick out too far.
75mm external (outlet) diameter tips will touch together which my cause resonance/noise.

Your best bet is to cut off the old tips and go with universal 70mm bolt-on or clamp-on replacements. Just double-check spacing between the pipes some aftermarket sleeve tips might be too wide. Simoni Racing or MBRP have solid options.

Right did this job today. Old tips removed using this plumbers tool to hook the lip at the back and hammered off until halfway then you can wiggle them off

Internal pipe diameter is actually 60mm.

After a bit of digging I’ve found that these bmw tips from a 2018 420d are an exact fit albeit 1cm longer (at the back). Part number 7610634905 They are a better quality chrome finish than the standard z4 tips

Does anyone happen to know where the part numbers are located on the the exhaust tips on the N52 Z4.
Need to prove that the exhaust tips on mine are original. Insurance company is being a pain in the arse.

you have to remove them as per above and the part number stickers will be just inside the rear end of the tips buried under grim

the part numbers are 2058833206 for the 3.0si

I have a OE N52 back box with tips (in sound condition, just need polishing up) you can have for free if that’s any interest to you and you can collect. Near Salisbury

Thank you for your offer, I should be ok. I am absolutely certain that mine are original and the insurance company are not interested in me fitting replacement parts to comply so my only option currently is to prove that the current system is completely OEM. The code on the back box matches the code on here. I just want to prove that the tips are OEM too
