N52 2.5i - What oil to use? And question about oil light?

Hi guys,

When I turned my car off earlier today the yellow oil light came on, suggesting I need to top up with a litre of oil. Obviously I'm going to do this, but the light hasn't been on since, however when I check the oil level on the computer it also says to top up with a litre. Is it normal for the oil top up light not to be on all of the time?

And which oil should I be using to top up the N52? Can't seem to find the answer in the manual.

Yes to question one had my oil light come on plus the warning signal while back needed a small top up but never came on again before i topped up oil

Buy a litre from your dealer, it's as cheap as Halfrauds and most other places and at least you know you have the right stuff.
