Hi, I have the Z4 2.0i, and was just wondering what upgrades people have done/started to do. Looking online, I've seen various upgrades, such as the obvious intake and exhaust upgrades, but also things like lightening the flywheel, and upgrading to some sport camshafts. if anyone has done any of these, please let me know how they went, and if anyone has got any other ideas, please shout them.

Now, without wishing to sound negative, if you want to make an N46 powered Z4 go quicker, sell it and buy a 30i or 30si.
Honestly, the money you would spend on upgrades would be better spent on getting a better engine in the car at the outset.
You can obviously make gains with the exhaust, better intakes, lighter flywheel etc, but then you are going to swiftly identify weakness elsewhere, like the head, the crank and the pistons themselves.
Alas most of those are pretty terminal if they fail.
A 6 cylinder engine is the answer, and it also sounds a heck of a lot better

The N46 is not known for being particularly robust.
If you start tweaking it you will put more strain on it.
If you are constrained to keeping that car then I would tread carefully and if it's much over 60k I wouldn't bother.
You could spend a lot of money on something that may not then last that long.
