Hi,
I know this has been covered loads of times and I've looked at the forum.

http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=19242&hilit=N46+cruise

So I've taken a look at my car and have a few questions, based on looking at my car.

Here are the pics of the setup in my car. There are quite a few differences from what's been in told in the forums:

Light loom

Electric box Engine bay

From here I can't figure out where the IVM is, the cables seem to run into the engine block

Any advice appreciated, before I go buying the kit.
Also can't see how to attach the supplied loom to the wiring behind the light switch.
Thanks in advance,
Andy

Ok, I've got a bit further, reread cc installation instructions, so happy up to the fabled pin 4 in the dme.

Thanks to gmetcalfe who has advised previously the dme is inside the electronics box on the n46.

However, could someone point out the dme on my picture above please, and re-advise / confirm which pin it goes into.

Thanks
Andy

Hey Andy,

Not sure about the differences between N46 and N52 but I can't see the blocks you're looking for in 4th picture. The very left most cable run in the picture leads to the DME on mine. What does yours go to?

Thanks Steve,

I have been back in the engine bay and took some more photos.

The DME is in the same box as pic 4 above.

The DME is In the background of the image below, I've taken out the smaller block, which is in focus in pic.
I don't know if it's x60002.

This is one of the blocks inside, pin 4 has a blue and lilac wire

The other block has a blue wire in pin 4

The dme is again in background, above, out of focus.

Am I getting warm.
Is the blue wire in the black block, pin 4 the cc wire I need to swap?

Thanks in advance, again.

I would *guess* that the blue one is the one you want. If the instructions say replace then just pop that lead out and put the new one in and try it :)

Thanks Steve,

If the weather holds up I'm going to give it a shot at the weekend.
Just need to buy a few things to make it easier but fingers crossed I dont :fuelfire: up in smoke

All fitted, pretty straightforward in end, thanks to all advice on here.

Did cut the purple/yellow a bit short so hopefully jerry rigging will hold.

All working, very pleased.

Great mod, well worth the fiddling. Where did you send the blue wire from the stalk to in the engine bay in the end?

Yeah, big fan of CC, got used to it in my previous alfas.

It went into pin 4, in the black connector, last pic above.

There's a white wire, with a blue stripe already in there.
Took that out, taped it up, and popped blue one in.

Worked a treat, thanks to gmetcalf from a previous post, for that, the final piece of the puzzle.

The installation instructions are correct, just doesn't mention the existing wire, or detail clearly where the dme is.

Anyhow, lights work, cc works so I'm a happy fella.

Ordered a new kit from eBay.
I must say, one of the best kits I’ve ever installed… very professional with all the proper plugs and connectors, etc..
I have the n46 2.0 and the above instructions were perfect!
Took my time, followed the instructions, job done in a couple of hours on a Saturday morning… working great! Excellent mod!

G1WJG - Is there a part number for the kit you bought? I visited my local BMW dealer he stated that a cruise retro kit is not available for my 05 Z4 2.0i. Or can you share the seller's name on eBay or the listing #? Thanks
