Well you didn't waste any time there Swampy!

Sound generator foam out and roof motor sorted on your first day - pretty impressive.

You're just going to have to do a lot of essential shopping trips now.

If its worth doing, better to do it sooner rather than later with things like this!

Next job detail, then jan payday will be new shocks all round on the driveway, doesnt look too tough to do.

On that note, anyone got any recommendations for decent shocks? Not mega money but not cheap rubbish either. Looking for good value balance for fast road rather than track days

Congratulations on the new purchase and welcome to the forum and z4 ownership, looking very nice and your not wasting any time getting things done.

In terms of shocks, I recently did all 4 of mine and went for Bilstein B4s as they are a great brand, as OEM replacement and supposedly ~15% stiffer than the Sachs OEM shocks which is good enough for me as there are some bumpy country lanes near me and I wouldn't want to go any stiffer!

OK, worth a look into, no rush, I've heard good things about the B4's tho so you just confirmed it. I think they are reasonably priced too

Quick clean to get the salt off them both today.

Things on ordered

- weighted zhp knob
- engine degreaser
- lithium grease for bonnet latch
- aircon bomb
- pollen filter
- interior leds
- side light and fog leds
- black grills

Cars look good, something tells me that you like to “improve” on the standard factory car haha. I just bought Komi sport shocks which have adjustable rebound to go along with the H&R springs for my roadster. Nothing wrong with Bilsteins though, have fitted Koni’s to a few of my cars and just got comfortable with the brand. Having said that I ran Bilstein coil overs on my M3 race car and performed well. Have fun.

Good feedback, I'll add them to the research list so appreciate you sharing.

I like OEM+ for things on the car, just ticking off the basics at the moment to bind with the car etc. I think that's half the fun of having a weekend car is the tinkering.

Saying that tho, I did do a bunch of stuff to my daily too

Some good things on your order list, especially the ZHP.

And you've already got the CDV out! You might want to add fresh gearbox oil to your future list.

I like adding mods to my Z4, but tend to keep my daily OE - well other than the E89 wheels I bought for it in May.

Gearbox oil was done by the previous owner in June, so that's off the to do list.

Most of my mods will be reversible or improvements (led bulbs and new shocks for example) so hopefully won't be too in your face.

Answer to n00b question #46.

No. ISOfix is not standard. My coupe doesn't have.

Rich.

Interesting, I thought it was standard. Got it in my coupe. Anybody got a full list of options available when new? Think mine has got the majority ticked.

I have the facelift catalogue, accessories catalogue and options price list as pdfs.

If you PM me with an e-mail address I'll send them to you.

Yeah, was a surprise to me too, I've been looking into retrofitting them with something like this

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HQ-Universal-ISOFIX-Mount-Base-Car-SUV-Autos-Safety-Seat-Belt-Bracket-Latch-4mm-/402348835083?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292

Figure it cant do any harm to have them, better something than nothing im guessing

Ran over the bay with some engine degreaser today, has made a bit of a difference but was only a quick blast, will put more time in during the summer months

All very good advice from the guys on here, I would agree try and find a Forum car thats got a good history with the current owner. Having said that I picked up a 2003 2.5 with 93k on the clock when I was looking for a companion to my already owned 1.9 Z3. Looked at a few until I found one that had been a trade in at a garage and off loaded to a sole trader to move on. Didn't have heated seats but the interior had been changed at some point in its life for an interesting cream/black leather. Silver paint wasn't my first choice but body condition was very good and I can live with the silver. Did spot the cam cover had a leak and made sure I scanned it with a code reader before I decided on making an offer, knocked £200 off the asking price in view of the oil leak. Only other code was for the AUC sensor for the air con which smells the outside air and closes the intake vent if it detects traffic fumes.
Have fixed the cam cover gasket, renewed the crankcase vent system and put a new AUC sensor in it. Still get the AUC sensor code since renewing the internal sensor so not fixed that 100%. I also obtained a set of 17inch wheels that had been refurbed and changed the tatty 16inch wheels the car came with. Also moved the roof motor to the boot as a precaution. Have run it for a year and only had one advisory on the first MOT with me for corroded rear nearside brake line, have stainless kit of hoses to put on to sort that when the weather gets warmer.
