a brief message to offer my apologies to those who were offended by the intrusion in the WhatsApp group of a web-bot that exploited the link published on this thread.
The idea was to facilitate the creation of a group - same as last year, same approach - to make it easier to communicate ahead and during the meet-up and facilitate the circulation of information, alerts etc.
Unfortunately, sometimes technology has its downsides: the bots scanning our website don't just gather information but sometimes are guided by people to exploit it and the "dating site" was an example. A bit like spam we find in our inboxes.
Again, I am sorry that happened. It was not me to include that "user" nor I avail of the services of that dating site as I am sure nobody in this group does.
I am disappointed that some fellow forum members on this group were quick to label the incident as a consequence of my lack of professionalism - as if I did this as a job.
I invited them again on the secure group, I hope they will stay and I hope we will all enjoy a great edition of the North Wales Run in late April!
Hope we can have a pint in Oswestry before the run and have a laugh at this small incident.

Side note I know but it’s a bit arrogant accepting an aopology that wasn’t necessary in the first place, this isn’t a pro outfit that’s charging you for its services, it’s a very well meaning member going out of his way to try to make life easier for others for zero reward. A better response would have been to say, no problem, thanks for your efforts, no apology needed imho.
Not having a pop or wanting to start a bun fight but it grates a little when people go out of their way to help.
