****DUE TO FORECAST POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE RUN IS CANCELLED THIS WEEKEND****
Sorry folks, been out with Craig and Mike on part of the route today and the prospects for Sunday look poor, so given the forecast, I have decided to cancel the run on Feb 1st.
As mentioned before, snow is forecast for the next few days (it snowed whilst we were out checking the route today) followed by arctic winds so getting a reliable road surface looks highly unlikely. Ironically the forecast for Sunday looks the best of the weekend but local knowledge dictates that the route will still be wet/covered in snow in parts and therefore liable to ice as well.
It makes no sense in folk coming so far to trudge around the route at low speeds and meeting up in strong artic winds, neither do I want to see anyone damage their Zed or have difficulties travelling to or from the run, so I know you will agree with the decision.
We had hoped for a 'window of opportunity' and knew we were in the hands of the weather so early in the year; nevertheless it is disappointing, a few days either side might have made a difference.
The run will be rescheduled for SUNDAY MARCH 1ST - I will create a new post for this new date and I hope you will be able to attend - same run but a month later - let's see if the weather gods smile on us then. . . .
