Afternoon all,

Hope all is well.

I have been doing a little research here and there and still unsure if I want the newer or older engine in the mk1 Z4. Obviously the prices decreases a lot with the older versions, hence my interest. However the extra power and efficiency interests me in the newer versions. Plus, always better to have a slightly newer car given that I want to keep it for 10 years plus if possible.

Howerver, ideal specs wanted:
- Grey but open for other colours
- Dark alloys but not too fussy
- 3.0L
- Manual
- Roadster
- No mods
- SI models, but not #
- £8k max really. I could go above but it would really have to tick ALL boxes e.g similar to @GedS car but in roadster.

I'm based in Kent. Willing to travel, but only if really good deal/ car etc.

I'm selling a 2006 TDI FR Seat Ibiza. Hard to get below 50mpg and goes 0-60 in ~7.2 secs if interested in a trade. Fantastic car. May not sell it though as such a excellent power vs efficiency. So far I have achieved 87mpg doing 60mph on motorway to Cambridge. Average to good condition, but had little to no problems with it mechanically. Real workhorse. ~70k miles on clock.

Currently in next lot of interviews for a new job, so hopefully if I get good interest this week, I will be signing things off next week or perhaps week after, therefore able to buy around then whilst I have the time.

Please PM if anything is of interest.

Best,

Theo

some nice motors kicking about the for sale section at the minute

Indeed there are. I have been looking around for about 4 hours today! Just thought I would put a message up here to see if I can bring as many people out of the woodwork as possible.

There are plenty to choose from at the moment, If I was in the market for a Z I think Lynchys would be at the top
of my list you will be hard pressed to find a better example than his for mods and condition

Lovely car, but an auto.

Indeed he does have a very nice car. Great colour combo. As said, looking for a manual. I think auto would be a little odd.

Hi - I have mine for sale? And I could be interested in your car and cash my way? Looking for something a little more practical! Got pics etc of your car or a link?

Hey @euphoria

That could be a very interesting trade. Your car seems pretty nice. Sorry to be panicky here, but are the seats a little warn (any chance of additional photos of that)? Also is the hood colour that slightly off black (almost green ish)? Not sure I'm totally game on that.

Nice 'shoes' though! General condition seems great.

RE my car... I will say that its a little average condition. The alloys need redoing, a few scrapes on the dash and a dent on the steering wheel. Also a few scrapes from tescos car park on bumpers, however I do have that the specific paint spray from halford for a touch up (only thin scratches). Just haven't got around to doing that yet. Also, brake fluid could do with a change as its been a while. Also air con wasnt working last week, so may need a topup (~£40). I will say though, I think you can pick up second hand alloys for pretty cheap.

However I will say that it is low mileage for this type of car. It's a diesel, so god knows how long it will last. I have I have had it remapped, so its got the additional power that the normal FR's don't have (from 130bhp to 165bhp and loads of torque). But it still maintains amazing economy. As I said, its hard to get it bellow 50mpg on an average drive.

Seats go down so plenty of room in back if you need to transport things. 5 door so easy access for kids etc.

I will say thought that the ride is very firm given the low profile tires and the very 'sporty' suspension. Not sure if this will suite your needs if kids need to be sleeping in the back? That's the same with all the FR's though. Other than the remapping there are no other mods. All original... just for your interest, here is a link to other similar ones like mine for photos... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/cars/seat/ibiza/postcode/me173rq/radius/1500/keywords/fr/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/maximum-mileage/up_to_90000_miles/page/1/transmission/manual/searchcontext/default/fuel-type/diesel/sort/default/maximum-age/up_to_10_years_old

The only photo I could find of mine was the one attached that I took a couple of days ago. Sorry a little dirty, but you get the impression.

Let me know your thoughts. No worries if not practical enough. It's a great car though. As I said, I may just keep it as you can drive 5 people to Cornwall and do an average of 45mpg whilst driving 'swiftly'. Also, it can fit quite a bit in the back, so good for big shops etc.

As usual I'm rambling. Let me know your thoughts.

Hiya, not a bad looking car that!
The roof is grey, prob a tad faded grey, OEM from the factory which could do with a refresh - or like I was going to do, a dye to black (renovo do a kit for £40)
The interior leather is in good condition, I think the photo in bright sunlight hasn't given it the best shot! I'll take a few more.

What sort of money were you after for yours? :poke:

Now added some more interior photos on my autotrader add, noticed the drivers footwell is a tad dirty, ignore that :? lol

Theog , come and have a look at mine . I know you would prefer a manual but have a try in my auto , you won't be disappointed , even if just to rule it out . I may have a few other bits to sweeten the deal

Lynchy I would love to drive your car trust me. But... I'm pretty sure I want a manual as I just love changing gear. Sounds odd, but so true. And I don't want to put your hopes up.

Just out of interest, which area of kent are you from?

Also, I noticed it has tiptronic (is that what its called). How quick are gear changes on press?

Good price though!

Hey @euphoria

Thanks for the additional photos. Does look nice on inside too. I'm still a little worried about the hood colour though. Also sport seat would be a plus, but hey.

For the car I was thinking £3k. However that still feels low given that I very much doubt it will depreciate that much if you sell private again in a few years... however if I keep two cars, the cost of maintaining both will probably outweigh the resell of the seat. I was thinking of putting it on SORN and getting it back in action in a year or so when I have kids running around the place.

I does however need a few things doing to it as mentioned. I spoke to the garage about the brakes and he said they were fine, so you can cross that off. Main thing I would say is alloys, however I know you can get them for £100-250 on-line. Not sure how easy to get though as I never tried myself.

Here is a link to other ones on autotrader. Most going at a touch over £3 however mine has alloy repair needed as mentioned. http://www2.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/cars/seat/ibiza/postcode/bb120hr/radius/1500/keywords/fr/maximum-mileage/up_to_80000_miles/fuel-type/diesel/price-to/6000/sort/default/searchcontext/default/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/seller-type/private_adverts/price-from/1000/page/1

I will say however that they are the 130bhp versions. Mine has 165bhp and an additional 90 torque! Thats even quicker than the Cupra versions. I can confidently say that the extra power feels at least an extra 20% power. Sure it's turbo style power (slightly lagy) but once you know how to drive a turbo car, you can boost it pretty quick.

A few extras include climate control (bar air con top up ~£40), electric mirrors, front light washers, the bigger alloys (I think 17" not sure but they are the rarest of the bunch), computer (mpg/ average speed etc) and a few others but I can't remember about.

Can I ask why you need a bigger car? Is it for kids? Or for transport? Just wondering as worried that it maybe a slightly too firm ride for young ones unless they are used to it.

Also, are you fixed on your price. Or would you budge?

Thanks,

T

I live in Barnehurst / Bexleyheath area . Gear changes on the tiptronic are very quick and sleek . Whereabouts in Kent are you ?

Ok great. I live near Maidstone. So not too far.

It would be ace to check out, but I have to say that I'm 99% sure on a manual. Would you object me having a look regardless? I don't want to waste your time though. Totally understand if busy and want to cut to the chase etc.

Great! Glad you said that as I know your a bit of a veteran here. Would be ace to see your Z4M too!

Will speak with my wife tomorrow about when's OK to pop by... When are you free?

@theog
I'm just after something with 4 seats and I'm saving for a wedding, so need something cheaper to run. In all honesty I have my heart set on a golf (on all my years of motoring, I never thought I would say that!), so would 'prefer' a straight sale with mine.

If you fancy a look and a drive, come see! I'm in Church Langley, Harlow (Essex) give me a call or a text. Weather is holding out nicely too so hopefully get some roof off action

I'm pretty sure mine is the cheapest manual 3.0 z4 within about 100 miles with pretty low mileage for age, the ones cheaper are around 100k miles or Rightoffs however there is slight movement on price for a forum member, i could maybe knock some cash off!

I would say the only bad point on my Z4 is that grey roof, I have no idea who spec'd the car up with a bloody grey roof! But as said, you can dye them and many have, with great results

I have taken a picture this morning of my car with the roof on, added it to auto trader advert, should be live soon!

Ok interesting. Will speak with wife today and will message about timings to see if your free.

RE golf - they do ever so slightly less mpg than the small ibizas (around 5 mpg or just over). No sure if bothered. They are slightly bigger though and perhaps easier to mod if thats your thing. Not sure about speed but im sure there are fast ones out there.

Speak in a bit!
