MZ4 roadster weighed?

Would love to know those answers myself. Has always puzzled me that the ///MR is quoted so much heavier than the Alpina. :?

Bigger Discs, extra exhausts, and all those badges...

Less stitching though. That should should save a bit.

I also though the roadster was about 50kg less than the coupe, so would make it almost the same as the Alpina.

the roadster with the Top and motors removed would be sub 1400kg , i could imagine stripped and caged it would be a surprise how light you could get one!

I'm sure you could get down to 1350 or thereabouts but would the cost and inconvenience justify it? For a race car it's a non-issue of course but for a road car...

Maybe the alpina is dry weight no options, this post on PH suggests there is only 50kg in it from a weigh bridge, possibly less as the coupe is reported to be slightly heavier.

1416kg – AlpinaRoadster S
1466kg – BMW Z4M Coupe

My (modified) ///MC weighs 1450kg with a full tank of fuel. IIRC, a stock ///MR is supposed to be 10kg lighter than a stock ///MC.

I'd love to lose 100+kg but I don't really see where the savings would come from whilst still keeping it liveable. Ok, lightweight seats would be a fair portion but beyond that you're in to the realm of all or nothing which is always the case with weight saving. If you 'could' get to 1250 then you'd have around 270bhp/tonne :o but I dread to think what you'd need to do to get there.

It would be amazing though-I stripped an old 8v golf of everything bar the drivers seat and the dash and not only was it noticeably faster, it was also brilliant fun. Hearing little pebbles tink off the underside whilst being simultaneously bombarded with all manner of NVH is something I'll never forget. I just don't think the z4 is ready for that kind of treatment. Yet.

BMW list 15kg diference between the Coupe and Roadster. So take a roadster, add a lithium battery, lighter seats, junk the speakers / replace with a simple pair. You could probably trim quite a lot of weight from the exhaust and maybe some unsprung weight from the wheels / discs / calipers.

Any idea how much that could remove?

Good thread on Exhaust over on Zpost. http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1078199

A custom titanium exhaust would chop a lot off... including a sizeable part of your bank balance

Some idea of what CF panels might save, although I bet it's more like 100kg, given that they also mention lightweight seats, flywheel etc. Replacing the bonnet certainly won't save much weight.

I bet lightweight seats, battery and exhaust would save loads, but you'd have to be careful with the balance since the engine is such a (lovely) lump.
