Mystery (to me) trim parts

Hi guys,

Can anyone help identify what these bits of trim are for? They were in the boot of my Z4 3.0i when I bought it.

Those are genuine oem ones, hard to find without buying a complete hardtop and thus sought after!

There’s a receipt for a hardtop in the file that came with my E85, so someone had this fitted in the past. I guess they forgot these trim pieces when selling the car. What I don’t have are the standard pillar covers that go over the exposed ‘tubes’ that I assume are there for hardtop fitting (visible when I have the roof down).
