Mystery Part ?

Yesterday I picked up a used Z4M Bumper Cover :D
So on closer inspection I discovered the backing to where the right side grill resides is cracked !
This isn't the grill itself, but the backing attached to the inside of the grill port and it looks to be clipped to the inside of the bumper.
(I understand the grill itself is made up of fins and trim - Im concerned about the part that this assembly mates to on the bumper itself)

You can see through the grill port the plastic mount has broken.

Here is a close up.

So far I have not seen it shown on any exploded parts diagrams.

View from the back.

And while it looks clipped to the bumper. it may have originally been considered an integral component of that assembly.

I would prefer to replace it.
I can reinforce it if I have to.

Can anyone help me with this ?

Cheers Bumpy

Is it part 19 you are after?

Thanks Swifty ..But no ..
Part 19 is the metal bracket that supports the brake duct horn.

When you 'snap' in a grill assembly into the grill port in the bumper ...
There is a 'collar' that is attached to the inside of the grill port, where the grill assembly snaps on to.

It is made of a harder plastic than the flexible bumper material.
In a perfect world I guess it could be replaced.
If not, well just a design problem that needs to be solved...

As above a picture is required to understand what you are saying. I have a rear bumper in the garage so cn pictures to compare if you want.

I have no idea what part you mean... And i have had my bumper off twice now!

The right side kidney grill? Maybe the headlight washer support?

Are you talking about these solid pieces of plastic that are integrated with the grill?

In the below pic you can clearly see the one on the right hand side of the pic, blocking off the outside edge of the centre grill.

Hi and thanks for trying to help.
As you can see from the pics, this trim piece is attached to the bumper and I guess its not replaceable.
I was disappointed at first but challenged to repair this bracket.
Actually if I decided to attach the grills via epoxy cement, effectively covering the damage, everything would look just fine.
For now Im using JB Weld (Epoxy - Do you have this product in Britain ? )
Im reattaching the 'sprung' pieces to the bumper and rebuilding the clips.

In the end, Im satisfied that the end result will be an acceptable repair. I'll just lose the ability to replace grills when I feel like it.

All Good
Cheers

As you guessed i doubt you'll have any option but to try fabricate that part... Before you bond the grill to the car i'd try see how secure the grill it with it as it is.... May still fit fine.
