Mystery interior lights

Hi Guys,

Just noticed two small red lights on the interior courtesy light. Only noticed while I was adjusting the rear view mirror and spotted the red reflection on my hand. They are only on when the driving lights are switched on. Anybody know what they are??

Yeah, first time I noticed them was when I had my E46 325Ci. Looked down and there was an orange-ish glow on my hand (on the gear shift)
 
Ahhh! I always thought that that light was reflecting from the instrument cluster. Well another Z4 mystery is solved!
