My Zed OCD is sooo bad......

Unless its something really special- a future classic, ultra rare or too sporty/ impractical as a daily i dont see the point in garage queens. *Exception: if you have a company car in which case your personal car becomes a garage queen by default.

Whats the point in driving a shitter when the car you really want to drive is sat gathering dust. The cost of a paint touch up & wheel refurb after a few winters, if it was even necessary, would be far cheaper & less hassle than buying & running a second car.

Hats of to you for wanting to look after your car, but you've got to put things into perspective. You've spent all that dosh on mods, enjoy 'em before they become out dated like most mods (esp. aesthetic mods)

As mentioned, the summer isnt kind to our cars with all the tar, bugs & dust. Just keep on top of the cleaning & enjoy. The wet winter months can be even more fun in the Z

Lol wasnt the money it was knowing i wouldnt use it but ur right on a crisp dry sunny winter day a hoon would be epic

Even better to that is a bit of snow and a couple of nice snow drifts :driving: :D

How do your Zeds hold out in winter conditions in terms of drivability?

I was looking at a second car to run around in the snow, this is my first rear wheel drive and seeing it struggle even in the rain gives me bad thoughts about the snow/ice

That's a Shane it's going to be under cover mate but I can understand with all the fish you are throwing at her you don't want that ruined!! Thought of simply getting a hardtop and some winter wheels to see you through?

Edit: just read your last post!! Its a No then!! sure you'll still end up cleaning it in a regular basis anyways!!

The snow I found to be a problem, particularly if you live anywhere hilly.

Non M's with open/electronic diff are pretty useless and difficult to get moving in snow. A lot of the problem was the summer Bridgestone run flat tyres which don't cope with lower temperatures that well.

I found the M more capable in adverse weather (but still far from ideal!), mainly due to a proper limited slip diff which give more traction (turns a one wheel spin into a nice shimmy and power slide) ;)

When the weather gets bad for those few days a year I'm often found trawling the classifieds for a 4.0 Jeep for under a grand...

Last year my dad couldn't get his Mercedes off our street. 100m from our house to the part of the road which is gritted (because its a bus route). Just could not move and we ended up pushing it back again. That was a 3L twin turbo diesel E class with 'winter mode'
My little 1.3tonne zed has no hope lol

With winter tyres the Z is perfectly suited to driving in snow. In fact even if we dont get snow once its below 10 degrees winter tyres are better to use.

Last year on an embankment i managed to overtake a stranded X1, the driver looked pretty dumbfounded as i passed them!

On summer tyres i wouldnt even bother trying to drive in snow now.

I also prefer the look of my black and silver winter 108's... Gives my car a new look for 3-4 months of the yr

Johnny, you are crazy! Mind you, your car is immaculate and I can imagine you going into a hulk like rage when you got that first stone chip

I used mine all through last winter and loved every minute. Taught me a lot about car control also.

The zed handles snow fine, as long as it's not too deep.

You said it "immaculate" and i want to keep it that way  ordered my car hood cover so have that by october and then the £500 shitter in december then the Zed goes into my GFs garage until March when most of the mods are done and i tax her again, and lucky if i do 1-2k a year now in the Zed. :o

How many miles has the car done?
