I love the mechanical additions to your car, but the cosmetic tweaks ruin it. The random bits of carbon look completely out of place.

390bhp!! - Cracker!

I agree that in this instance the mechanical work and results are awesome, but some of those CF pieces just look exactly as you say and random, out of place. Especially on the front splitter, side skirts and CSL badging.

Oh but how I woudl like that engine and suspension

each to their own i guess, i personally wouldnt dothe areo mods but im glad he's tried it and clearly happy with it, the suspension and engine is fabulous and im just glad their are other people keeping the z4m tuning scene alive!! well done man!!

OP, ive just looked up the nitron suspension and its a Great price imo, cheaper than the kw clubsport and v3 versions, and imo is a far better kit a few questions for you...

do the nitrons make clunking and banging noises during normal driving?
Can i get this kit to ride at factory side height?
as soon as you get to a track please please give me a full review.
With the uprated ARBs you fitted, did you have to mod the mounting points?

Looks awesome.. esp like the rear splitter.

And that torque curve looks pretty insane.. its rising all the way up to 4.3k rpm :o

ive just spoken to nitron and im pleased to see the kit on its highest setting is only 20mm all round lower than stock...... i believe the eibach kit lowers the front 20mm and the rear 10mm.......

Hi all,

Yes have much fun with the journey of tuning the car. With regards to the Nitrons I believe they do 3 types (I think): Road, Track and Very Track. I’ve got the track ones because at the time the road ones weren’t actually developed so got the track ones for the price of the road ones. Also these are adjustable which I don’t think the roads are.

Hello Beedub, cool ESS supercharger, 460bhp I bet you’ve had some fun with that car. What colour is your car. Also yes it would be good to meet up sometime fellow Z4M driver. Also you’re not too far away as I’m Nottingham and use to live in Birmingham many years ago.

I must admit CA-AUTO said that the handling would be transformed and they were right, it’s just so flat now at speed and through bends. The only thing I might go for was a rear strong strut brace. Also with updates to the breaks (Stoptech brake rotors, goodridge brake lines, Axxis Ultimate and RBF 600r brake fluid) are much better now too.

Oh yes forgot to say about the Super Sprint Stepped headers. When you take your foot of the gas the car continues on, where before you could feel the engine braking much more. So it makes the car smother. Also I’ve notices the Torque have improved much more than the BHP. Before the figures was 380bhp @ 8074revs and 267 torque @ 2841 (but stay around that all the way up the rev range). Now it reads 391bhp @ 7700 ish and 304 torque @ 3700 ish.

I must admit wasn’t sure about the carbon bits too, but I wanted to complement the rear and also wanted to improve the front down force. But have to say am very happy with the results. The carbon bits in front of the rear wheels have helped the air flow as I’ve noticed the back wheels don’t seem to get as dirty as before. Also am thinking about getting the red bar on the Front spoiler between the air ducks vinyl wrapped in carbon fibre effect to give the car a bit more of aggressive look. Seen this done on a white Z4M coupe (on the internet) and it looks very nice.

My overall thinking for the car was to try and create a CSL / GT3 RS version of the Z4M. However what I would love to do would to go for a: 3.4 Stroker Kit and Stage 3 Cylinder Head ... if cost was not an issue. I must admit I only want a CSL airbox for the induction sound but got the tuning bug. But there’s nothing out there that I actual like, within price. The new M3 V8 is a nice car but was a bit dull to drive (hope I haven’t offended anyone). The new z4 looks nice but the reviews are not that good and the Z4M (stock) goes around the Top Gear track faster.

I will probably go the BMW Gaydon show in 2011 but please let me know of any other shows or meets as would be interested in coming along. Also being very close to Donnington would like to get some one on one driver training in my car so if any knows of any one please let me know.

Bye for now.

Hi all,

Sorry for not reporting sooner. Well have had the car back from CA-AUTOMOTIVE with the 3rd stage modes completed. They managed to get the Super Sprint Stepped Headers on which has increased the sound a little. It’s hard to explain but the engine feels less stressed or held back, it revs more freely. With the re-map they managed to get 391BHP after a few adoptions (I have included the first DYNO run of 389BHP).

But the best thing is not the power (which is better) but it's the handling, the Ground Control anti roll bars are amazing. Where before the car use to roll in fast tight corners now is so flat. I have the Nitron Coil Overs in the softest setting at the moment (to run them in). This is another strange one to explain: they car feels so much tighter but at the same time more comfortable. I use to have HR lowering springs on the car but these Nitron Coil Overs (Adjustable) and Ground Control Anti Roll bars has transformed the car. I was hoping to go to Bruntingthorpe race track to test the car out but the weather hasn’t permitted it. Hoping to go in the New Year to set-up the Nitrons.

The new carbon bits looks FAB! the ac-schnitzer rear diffuser and the CA-AUTOMOTIVE custom made carbon splitters add that little bit extra to the car.

Oh yes forgot to say I was on a certain dual carriage with a Bentley Conti GTC 60plate, he was right up my back-side, the car in front me moved over at 50 in 3rd floored it and I could see me pull away from him. Came up to some lights and did the same thing again 40-110 and still pulled away from him. VERY BAD OF ME :D Hopefully when at Bruntingthorpe will be able to post some 0-60-100 times.

Great progress! Your feedback on your new suspension seems spot on.

I am contemplating on having a coilover set from NITRON installed, but I am afraid that I will get some rubbing up front which is something I would like to avoid at all costs. Are your tire sizes 235/35/19 and 265/30/19? Your car looks lowered compared to mine, maybe 1,5 centimeters?

What thickness are your GC swaybars? Did you buy them in the UK?

Thanks

G

hey z4m csl my car is a Ti silver car.....

006-1.jpg

the road spe ones are adjustable ;-) i like the fact i can specify a maximum of 20mm lowering height, can you confirm how much your is lowered by? the front looks 35mm+ are you experiencing rubbing at all?

thankyou yes the car is quite some fun with 460hp and very very quick...... most cars on the road just can't keep up, the blower itself is good for upto 775bhp so my 460bhp isnt stressing it at all, infact im just tickling its belly, the good things is now all the hard work is done im just a pulley upgrade away from 500bhp plus, but i think im happy with my current power output.

we'll defo arrange to hook up, would be nice to get some video runs of us running together, i cant recommend driver training, all i did was go to the track reguarly, im now attending 10 + per year, usually at a local sprint track.

great to see another owner spending alittle extra on his car...... with a few choice mods these cars can be turned into complete weapons imo!!!

here is my car running on my local sprint course....

keep an eye on the boards as ill be organising an event @ the track you see me running on, it will be a z4 only day ;-)

I'd love to see a side by side vid between a Stock Z4 and yours but also an E90 M3 and yours.

Beedub, what suspension are you on? Tire sizes? You do not get any rubbing with a 2 cm lowered ride height?

Nice looking Z4m and nice video. Looks like a fun track. I'm hoping to be doing another article but this time in BMW Car magazine on the handling. Hoping for some professional photos and video runs on my car. So will keep you posted on that. Let me know of up and coming meets :D

The only YouTube video was done at the AL-tuning garage with Stage 1 mods. It says schrick cams and enlarge throttle bodies etc but its wrong. Those were added in my stage 2 mods.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9i7dDX0YTE

When driving at 4000revs upwards the combination of the carbon Airbox, cams and other bits makes a real hard induction noise. It’s very addictive

Isn't this the OP's car too, on ebay :?

Yes, a few years ago got the CSl ‘like’ wheels from them before I had any changes done to the car. Forgot they took a photo of the car. Since then got a new set from CA-AUTOMOTIVE as those once got curbed, lol. You can see the car was running the old suspension.

Is there much difference between the reps and oem?

I can adjust the damper settings too, as have them on the softest setting to bed them in. I'm not sure on the height adjustments, but know they are slightly higher than the HR Springs I use to have.

With the suspension changes in stock mode (18 inch wheels) the car use to bounce around and the traction light use to come all the time, but with all the changes now I can get the power down much better.

I know I keep going on about it but there’s no body roll, it’s just amazing. Need to speak to CA-AUTO about how good the Ground Control Anti Sway bars are. They are expensive but boy they make a difference. It really handles like a difference car. :D

big difference... theirs no way i would put anythink other than the best on my ///M,

My point was he had tried both, so could comment on the differences. I've pmed 3 people so far who have reps fitted, but reckon they can't tell any difference in the handling. (Not track cars obviously).

I've run BBS CHs and Rs6 reps, I was convinced I'd notice the difference but I couldn't.

they may look great and they will look great....... the genuine BBS csls are proper quality items and even gen alloys fail........ i have personally seen these heavy rep alloy wheels fail at the track... not a pretty sight. imo if i was to put a rep alloy on my ///M i would rather stick with the quality stock items!
