My z4

Marius, they are standard wheel and tyre sizes though - do you mean 'too big' for the way you have the car set up ?

sort of, 235 would be perfect but not sure if they are wide enough to keep rwd car on the road , specially in the wet .

Marius me old mate good job & well done....Looks similar to mine. At the end of the day its your car so do your mods as you please and sod the dissenters!

Look at most sketches and artists impressions of cars, you will also notice that the centres of the arch and wheel are concentric. This is probably the crunch for me, as the car is lowered my eyes tell my brain to scream because it looks wrong, I spend my life placing concentric tolerances on the things I design because they don't work without them.

Meanwhile, back in the real world.....

and what's that supposed to mean :poke:

Liing the OP photos. Great looking job although wouldn't survive around the sleeping policeman ridden mean streets of SE3  :driving:  :o

Stunning photos mate.

The drop & spacers have added so much to the stance, good job!
I like the rear lights but I fail to see how they would work? The indicators are black and the reverse light is red?

I have spacers 5mm smaller front and back, and Eibach springs that have dropped the car about 15mm over and above the drop that is standard with Sport springs, so less than the OP. On a perfectly level surface I can just about get my hand in flat (parallel to the ground) between the top of the arch and the top of the tyres, though there is slightly more of a drop on the front. On any surface that is not perfectly level I cannot get my hand in easily, on whichever side is sitting lower. I have rubbing on the rear of the drivers side rear arch liner, the front of the passenger side arch liner, and I have actually worn through the arch liner on the front of the driver side as a result of our hoon last weekend. Driving normally this will still happen but not be pronounced - driven the way the car should be driven, even just cornering causes a rub occassionally, never mind on less than perfect road surfaces. I would be concerned that with the OPs set up that I'd very quickly destroy the arch liners, and perhaps damage the tyres too, when I drive the car the way I like to. So mine suits me, but I understand the attractiveness of the lowered/spaced look

Be interested to hear how the OP gets on with this set up.

And thanks sars :D [/quote]

Just reading this post,Bing, makes me realise it must be the spacers that are the cause of the rubbing(in conjuction with the eibachs),as with eibachs alone,i never had any rubbing issues on my 3.0i.Have u thought of trying it without the spacers?

Anyway,your car looks good mate...
as does the op's  :driving:

P.S ditto,The z4(e85/86) still looks amazing,and Bangles best design. A much missunderstood design path,slated by many,but i love it :D

Agree on the last Craig, 100%

When I had the springs fitted my Indy said they tried it minus the spacers, but put them back on because without them there was more rubbing on full lock INSIDE the arches without them. They said the best set up was with them. I am going to have a play, but I am now very attached to the spaced look... Toying with trying 10 or 12mm spacers instead... 10 would probably prevent the arch rubbing 90% of the time, unless driving to Glenshee again

Really hard to find 10mm that look any good though - very few are hub centric.

The camber on a11y's zed was great IMO, was one of the first things I noticed about his car. Slammed, and great aggressive stance

As for camber/tyre wear - you dont buy a Z4 for being practical? Do you :?

Mine's a daily driver though, so any wear shows (and costs) a lot faster than a weekend car. And I had to sell it as 'not completely impractical' to Mrs B - so decent boot space, better MPG than the ST, and auto so she coud drive it if really necessary. Admittedly that's a very short list, but I wore her down over 3 years :D

Like it,Bing

I guess im fortunate,as i had the opposite with my wife, being her that convinced me i should look at the z4's when i bought my 1st one(wasnt too sure of the styling of the z4s when the 1st came out,and was just starting to like them/now LOVE the styling of the e85/86s. (and the e89's too/just waiting for a more hardcore version) :driving:

I like the spacers for the width, although I bet it chafes something rotten (ooer missus).

Not at all keen on the camber/slammed look though.

I'm interested in the LaminX film ,Marius - did you go tint or red? Also, have you found any issues at MOT time?

omg, that stance is incredible 8)

what did you use to paint the hoop covers?

i was thinking of spraying mine black but am unsure whether the roof folding up and down would wear the paint out as it would be a DIY job.
