My Z4 Ride to date--Please read cool story!

Hello members---,

I just love this forum---time for me to provide some value and feedback regarding my Z4 ownership experience!

Purchased my 1st BMW 328 I in 1996, My ownership experience on that car was terrible, my wife called the car the $700.00 club car, every time I brought the 328 I for service $700.00 service bill! That car was a special ordered by me,new, was built in the Spart's plan in SC. When I sold that car back in 05, I said I would never purchase another BMW.

Well, interesting story---hang in there for me, I was shopping for a new car, saw a 03 Zed in Maldives blue at a used car dealership. I asked the salesperson if I could take it for a spin-------"WoW" I did forget what it was like driving the ultimate driving machine!!!! The feel and handling was awesome, Ok, ready for the divorce papers-------If you have been married for 28K years, lol, I called my wife and said___________I have found my new used car, A 2003 Zed 4 with onluy 28K miles for 23K dollars, 25 K total with the extended 70K warranty:_))))

She of course said, what are you smoking, you said you would never buy a BMW again!!!! I can say now, what the heck, you only live once, maybe the old old 06 was a lemon, or just bad luck! She said do what you want, and I did))

Well, today I can say------I have a total of 29,500 miles on this Z-4 and it just is so smooth and trouble free!!!!!!!
Yea, it has a couple of rattles, but it is mint condition and I love the true Ultimate driving machine I once owned and can say you get what you pay for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, obvious I just love my used 03 Zed Roadster, and yes BMW, I am back))))

I am a old buck at 49, the moto of the story is, you can teach a old dogs new tricks!

I had a 330ci and last year when I had some problems with my car and I took it to the dealer to get it fixed. It was a nightmare experience which cost me an arm and a leg. I promised myself I would never get another BMW ever. How easy we forget once we get into another bmw, a few days ago I got a 2005 Z4 off a friend.

Very nice story. Glad to hear that your Z4 is outstanding and you did not get detered by your bad experience with the 96 328i. :thumbsdown: I'm joining rabman5 in asking since when 3 series were built in the Spartansburg, SC plant?

Hello,

I remember special ordering my 1st ever 1996 328I in green. The wait was to the point where I almost cancelled my special order. I will never forget, I was at the dealership, Tulley BMW in Nashua, NH and the day I went in to find out what the delay was in receiving my special order BMW 328, 8-10 weeks--------I was told the car was clearing the New Jersey final check point of entry and should arrive any day now! While at the dealership, same day, I saw a Allied Systems delivery truck just arriving---On top was the green 328I without the normal white transport protection, Excited the dealer said--- your car just arrived--I watched with excitement the unload of my long awaited delivery of my special order. The 2nd thing I noticed was the car was covered with pollen, Now the car was very green in color, funny the car had a Red Tag noted "Rush" When the car came down the delivery truck, I checked the vin# and it said 4US----------I asked the dealer why my car did not come from Germany as ordered---They said your car was built at the new BMW Sparts, plant and the quality was same. Again, I was so excited to finally receive my new BMW I took delivery in the next day. Then all the problems, no A/C cooling, leaking oil, etc etc.---

Well as already said, I kept the car and was not delighted with my ownership experience. And said I would never buy a BMW again!

Now that I have my new/ used 2003 Z4, my luck has changed and yes obvious, My Z4 was built in the Spart's plant like my old 328I!!!!!!!!! The difference I guess is the Z4 was built properly and the old 328I was just bad luck!

End of long story----

I do love my new Z4!!!!!!!!!!

I also never did get a clear answer when they stopped production of the 328I in Spart's plant, my best guess it was in 1996, aprox May-June? Again another guess, but sales of the Z3 was very good in that year, I also recall that year, it was the Year of the Atlanta Olympic games and BMW was a big sponsor, they did a ton of advertising!

Someone out there must have the answer?
