My Z4 not so spotless anymore :(

Couple of days ago as I was returning to my car parked on road outside my house I was met with a rather sad sight, some had scraped my front bumper (nearside corner) and left unsightly scars and no note. I am not into pampering my car but the fact that it got scared just parked there and no one even bothered to leave a note or anything is making me a bit angry.

Any suggestions what can be done about it? New bumper? Repair it? Try to find some one with the same paint (Ruby Black) who has put on the aero kit or some other modified bumpers?

Cheers

Photo taken with phone camera, it was after it got washed in the rain before it was quite white. And it looks quite white when it dried after the rain not sure why almost looked as if some hit it again at the same spot. How much would the repaint set me back?

Looks like it needs paint (general rule is if you can feel it, it does) but it's pretty light to be honest.

I had the same thing but worse done to me on my M3; body shop did it for £140 inc VAT, good as new...stings a bit when it's not your fault though I know!

I had same scratch on my Z3 back bumber at the side when I slid against brick wall In the snow .I know a good spray shop ...£100 cash (u.k) .It was a perect job..you need to find a good one.

Hash, I feel your pain.... I could kill for less, (probably shouldn't say that but its my pride and joy). I found something simliar on my old car, the person had left a crease from the rear panel to the door, including damaging the alloy. I noticed the car next to it had my paint on his bumper and so waited for him to return. Luckily my girlfirend kept me calm until the person returned only to say he thought it would polish out so didn't leave a note :x !!!! I hope its an easy repair but it does look like it needs filling and paint. Whereabouts are you located, always good to go somewhere that is tried and tested. I know a good bodyshop in Dorking Surrey.

The same thing just happened to me 2 weeks ago. I went to Asda and came out to find loads of scratches all down my rear bumper, a big dent and the bumper didn't sit right. I had it fixed at the beginning of the week at a cost of £200. My damage was a lot worse than yours though so it shouldn't be that much.

Why are people so inconsiderate and crap drivers! We shouldn't have to fork out for things like this ourselves when we haven't even done it :headbang:

Hard to tell but it looks as though it could be wet sanded the polished out...... Depends if any it past the clear or paint...

It's the difference between those who see a car as a means to get from a to b, and those who enjoy the drive itself. :headbang:

Unlucky - maybe try a company like chipsaway first before resorting to a respray - and its often very diffcult to get a perfect colour match - so often surrounding panels will need to be blended in and then relacqered.

I had a conversation with a guy at work who has a focus, which has seen better days - i told him he had a scratch on his rear bumper, and he was like "meah - i dont care - as long as it gets me from a to b"

I saw a woman reversing her Vectra and hitting a Mini Cooper's bumper at Sainsbury's carpark. The force made the Mini jumped, and left scratches on the black plastic bumper. Idiots just don't care about other cars when they open the door. I never take my zed to supermarket or public carparks. I use the Polo. :)

Before we had the 2nd car many years ago, I used to park my bimmer as far as possible from the supermarket's entrance, and chose not to park next to old bangers, people carriers, or cars with child seat. Those people seem to pay more attention to their children more than other cars around. Trolleys, pushchairs, etc can easily dent your zed.

I've had loads of damage over the years to such an extent that I'm quite paranoid about car parks these days and would walk miles just to avoid crowded parking places (much to the annoyance of my girlfriend  ) so I can fully empathise with your situation Hash, hope it gets better soon

This also raises a query about one of life's great mysteries? How come I can park at the far end of a huge car park, well away from the "madding crowd" only to find that on return to the beloved car, and despite the fact that there are loads and loads of empty spaces, I find a rusty dented MPV on one side and another cheap banger parked the other side......... do cars get lonely? . . .is it some sort of "herding instinct"? . .

Im afraid i can tell you exactly why this happens Delboy. Its the more spatially retarded members of our population. They are using your car to line themselves up with the parking space. These people are such bad drivers that they can only park in a carpark, if its next to someone else.
You may know them as..................women.

Same happened to mine late last yr,and managed to machine polish 80% out with d/a polisher, tho still needs trip to bodyshop(in beter wthr),so yours mt too.

hope u get smwr decent :headbang:

I also find this - much to my annoyance - the worse is Cosco - park miles from anywhere - with loads of open spaces - only to return not being able to see my car as it will have massive vans either side of it
