My Z4 is worth much less because it's a stick??

I bought my 07 3.0SI in December and throughout my search here in the US (and I bought one 1300 miles away from where I live), most of them were automatics. I was looking for a manual but for all the options I wanted there were so few manuals that I got an auto. I looked up the book and the automatic option adds value to the NEW car but I dont know how much it affects the used value other then the fact that American's do love their automatic cars.
The real question is why in the world would you trade in a car at the dealership as you can make more money going private?

supra98, just did a search on Auto Trader for all models within 60 miles of where I live. There were 18 in total. All ragtops and 5 had automatics. I suspect you will see more auto in or near a large metro area.

Isnt the pre facelift auto a POS anyway?

Who told you that f***ing bollocks or is that your own opinion ? :x

x2 Gaza.

Everyone has their own opinion, but where the above statement comes from is beyond me.

Mine is a pre facelift Auto and it is fantastic. Before I got it, I test drove 2 manual cars and one other auto. All 3.0 cars and the shortlist ended between one of the manual cars and the one I ended up buying. Reason I chose the auto ? Best of both worlds as far as I'm concerned. Effortless in traffic around town and knock it over into m/s and you can select "which gear you want to be in" anyway...

The dealer is most certainly setting you up for a low offer. Just tell him to feck off and take you custom elsewhere. Dealers sales people are such slimey liars sometimes ( I should know as a big part of my job is training them to sell professionally, a challenge for sure!! )

WLH Auto Trader is how I bought my car. I just did the search again (nationwide) 2006 or 2007 3.0si. 98 Automatics. 52 Manual. I flew out to NJ to get it and drove it back to MN (during that snowstorm in early December).
Just to be fair and not be so specific on my search, I also removed the 3.0si part and searched and there was still a 2/3 auto 1/3 manual distribution.
