You may recall me posting in the newbies section in August saying I'd picked up my Z4 and was having it detailed by Scott at Beautechnique.

I've posted a link to the photos of the work Scott carried out here http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=321316

I hope posting a link is ok with the mods?

If you are considering paint rectification to get rid of swirls and defects and want somewhere in the East Mids, I recommend you contact Scott. He's a top bloke and his work is top notch!

Great job! I have AW E85 so I'm curious as to the technique Scott used to make it perfect. Which pads did Scott use with the Meguiars D300 compound on the body? After polishing, what wax did he use? Thanks!!!

Thanks Aries

I'm not sure which wax he used but Scott is a member here so I have sent him a PM to ask him. Hopefully he will reply.

Thanks for your custom once again Steve.

Aries326 - In answer to your question, D300 Meguiars microfibre correction compound is used on certain details to bridge a gap between correctional sets. I tend to use teh Lake Country mcirofibre rotray pads on the Rupes polisher for tidying the footprint left from wool cutting and to remove lighter swirl markings where required. The cluster abrasive has a large impact when first using then breaks down to an almost jewelling powder type abrasive. The rotary microfibre pad has a very soft finishing foam interface which enables the microfibre to work the abrasive at a lesser alarming cut level. Im not one for sticking to standard polishing media so will and do work with all manner of media to correct the paint efficiently yet safely.

Great work  how long did he have it for? Can I be crass and ask roughly how much it cost?

Vehicle was at my workshop for 7 days total.Cant quite recollect totalling man hours but lets just say a minimal figure was around 40 man hours ( more than likely had more ) Costing is on a by vehicle and client basis. All is determined through how bad the vehicle is, how far client wants to take the finish of there vehicle whilst having a realistic perception on what can be achieved, how much time etc would be involved. If a budget is set then a detail is tailored to befit that budget.

Nothing like the satisfaction of doing it yourself nick. I've just had some basic training and I'm really looking forward to having a crack at my car to get rid of those fine scratches.

Wow stunning.

I think i'm going to bite the bullet next year and have one done.

It will only stand you in good stead aquazi, be it to enjoy the car even more or to increase its value. Regardless whom you choose to carry out the potential service its imperative to carry out some ground work on there background and time service experience. Looking deeper into detailing you will find a plentiful array of naive youngsters or uninsured weekend hobbyists that offer there services with little to no experience bar a handful of training days which have not even been one on one so learning very little to the point of not even scratching the surface of understanding paint types, what is comfortable paint thickness to work with even down to the point of correct machine or whether to use open or closed cell structure pad with a certain type of abrasive to safely yet effectively rejuvenate the finish with no detriment to the painted surfaces being corrected. Always ensure they are full time, fully insured and have a good few years experience behind them.
